I grew up with the Artemis Fowl series and continue to enjoy the occasional re-listen when I am working on something else. Imagine my surprise when I log onto audible and there is another artermis fowl book. I was a little wary about purchasing this book because I did not feel that the previous two books were up to snuff compared with the others, but finally I decided that I should listen to the conclusion, if only to know the resolution to a series that I loved when I was younger. And let me tell you, I was very happy I did. Unlike the previous two books, this Artemis Fowl book has the same feel and wit of the first five books, and brought back the single best villain of the Artemis Fowl series, Opal.

So bottom line, if you were like me and felt that the series was kind of falling apart with the books 6 and 7, you should definitely give this book a chance, you will be glad you did. Worth the listen even now that I am older.

I originally picked up this first book of this series because there seemed to be a lull in my normal authors putting out books. I have to say I was very happy with the storyline and the narrator. Needless to say, after I finished the first book, imagine my delight in finding three more books of the series already on audible.

The books are pretty standard military sci-fi, with the equally standard super-power alien race (in this case robots) and little hope for success. While the story is a bit cliche it is very well told and has its own spins on the classic. Sandra continues to be my least favorite character in the books, I wish she would just get killed off already... but I guess I see her necessity in the story.

Overall a great book in a great series. Worth a listen if you like military sci-fi

The Eragon series was by no means a great work of literature, but it was certainly a good story that I enjoyed from beginning to finish. This book did not have the same narrative drive that I felt from Eragon or Eldest but it did a fantastic job of concluding the series.

After scrolling through the reviews left already I was surprised at the number of negative reactions to the conclusion. What were people expecting? Did they think that Paolini would describe every single mystery in the world? No, I thought Paolini did a great job tying up ends. If he had done anymore he would have had to write a whole new book, maybe a whole new series. The last 4 or 5 hours of the audiobook were devoted to resolving stories.

I think that the story ended nicely, and while Eragon's story is the epitome of the hero archetype, Paolini managed to tell this final chapter without using many obvious narrative cliches that people seem to have been expecting.

It was fun to listen to, and I will revisit it in the future.

I went into this book expecting to listen about the Thursday Next that we all have grown to love. Unfortunately for me this book is about an entirely different character (albeit her name is Thursday Next). While I was disappointed to read about the fictional Thursday instead of the "real" Thursday, this book really came together well in the end. The beginning is a bit slow (Jasper Fforde is setting up new characters) but it picks up pace and really comes together in the end. The Narrator does a fantastic job with the voices but the periods between chapters are agonizingly long. As ashamed as I am to say it, I think the Thursday Next series is running out of steam. I continue to enjoy the references to other works of fiction, but there are many reused jokes.

Time to impatiently wait for the next books for the other series.

I have always been a huge fan of Orson Scott Card's writing style, he writes his books like he intends them to be read out loud. The Ender Series is by far his best work (Speaker for the Dead takes the cake), but this story is so unique and enthralling that I could not stop listening. I usually sit and multi-task while I listen to my book, doing homework, working, driving etc. but this book I would stop other things and just sit and listen. OSC did a fantastic job creating another whole new universe and magic system, and plays around with the laws of time travel. Nothing is too confusing, which is rare for a Time travel book. My final word: Well done Orson Scott Card, This book is a keeper for my audio folder as well as my shelf.
