It WAS the movie. I am a Star Trek fan and enjoyed the movie. Th audio novel was not more or less then screen event. I just wish I had not wasted a credit on this rendition. I could have just watched or listened to the movie again. Also, would have only had to hear Spock when HE was talking.
I don't think this book could have been written by a human being. The narration was was artificial as well. I did have several LOL moments early on. The anticipation of more laughs compelled me to listen to the entire book. If you have credits to waste this one is worth it.
Overall the story was engaging. I was annoyed by all the chapters that didn't seem necessary. I pictured Caprain Leathers more as a sergeant then a Captain and the story ended with the a similar rank disappointment. That is to say, there was no ending. The imaginative demonic creatures animated by the ethereal green mist lacked the same substance as the story came to end of book one. I will likely shine the light on book two.
