Learning more about Bills Free Will powers and lauphing how Sally always screws him over.
Bill, because he is the hero most like me. Except employed.
His dry wit and humorous tone. It reminds me a little bit of Red Dwarf.
It would have to be the same tag line for the first book.
"There are dangerous things go bump in the night, he isn't one of them"
Yes, especially if I had someone to discuss it with. There is a lot information covering the last few centuries of China. too much for one go. I learned a lot that I only knew about from vague rumors and vague news before.
The narrator, he managed to make each voice different and clear.
It went in different but good directions instead of treading the stereotypical path of most heroic journey stories.
Suffer in Silence.
In this series yes, it is a slow starter, but it is interesting slowly learning the unique magic system of the Man of His Word world. The characters are also deaper than our shallow first impressions.
The magic system, it is different than any other series in how it works and propagates. The second would be the suprise about the motivation for the main villain for book one.
The performance could have been a little better with something to make the different male and female voices more unique, but I still like the narrator I just wish there had been a second male narrator for male characters.
Yes because it would be easier to understand some of the images described and it woudl be faster paced.
I might listen to it again with a friend because while I like the book its good book to read once, but listen to it a second time with someone else to experience through their experience for the first time.
this is my first book.
I like how his voice action mad each character sound different, how he made what the character was saying and doing be reflected in their voices like when someone falls away in the distance the sound fades out. Also they went an extra step and all artificial voices like radio and robots all sound like they are coming through some kind of artificial sound source. They even added music to certain moments in the book to add emotion. I thought that was really an improvement. I wish all books did that.
Yes, but I can't mention it without spoilers.
While I understand others reviews about this book being negative especially the science parts, I feel their a little unjust since this isn't really science fiction as much as a science thriller acting in the guise of science fiction. So I can forgive the lapse in science to tell a good story. Others also rage about the stereotyped characters, but stereotypes exist for a reason and I found that a lot of those characters are very believable for our world and government developing the way it did and dose even to this day. So I personally had no problem with them. Give this book a try. Its at least as good as a once watch summer blockbuster.
The demon with a 1920's Prohibition gangster accent,
I would have made the other characters more fleshed out. The other characters were a little shallow, but most of it was so fun and we were so focused on the hero and his demon sidekick who are both entertaining that I didn't notice the other characters much.
Dry and witty.
No, but I certainly felt sympathy from my own experience at his social awkwardness with other people. His doctors medical description was like a bit of deja vu since I had a similar diagnosis when I was kid. I really related to the protagonist.
None. I've never run into a book about zombies from the zombies perspective that wasn't someone turning into a zombie and losing their mind and humanity. This is opposite. very Cerebral. Pun not intended.
He brings the voice of R. He make are, for lack of a better term, come alive and be a distinct voice instead of a boring narration.
R of course . Gives us a really idea of what it might be like to exist as a zombie and if capable of thought why they don't just die.
I biased because I liked the movie and saw it first, but I ended up liking the book more in a lot of ways since it discussed things we didn't have time to delve into in the movie. Also the ending is a little less happy ending and more uncertain, but still ... sorry no spoilers. Buy it.
I loved the alternate universe. I don't know where the cover come in "Illusion" but the new universe had such an interesting back story I immediately wanted another book just about this alternate universe. Ash alternte married Artemis, I mean how did that happen?
The first appearence of young ash
This book it would have to be the Adarian Malachi and the closure we got with his character. Also Zhavien
I felt a little sad for Zhavien and Adarien and how their lives couldn't have been happier.
Learning more about the history of the goddess entity and how it all works.
I would have dropped the Trent romance line. I know a lot of people love this pairing, but I still remember how he was introduced as a drug running murderer and while he had his reasons to keep his secrets, the secret of the survival of the elven race he in my mind is still a murdering scumbag.
I hope the final books answers more.
Fall then Rise
The suprises at the begining and and end of the book that caught me off guard. I also liked how the book answered questions from the last book partly and expanded on the world and gave us more questions.
The switch between their voices for male and female viewpoints was great, they really know their characters voices, though kate could practice male shouts of pain and horror a bit more.
Yes, unfortunately I couldn't take the time off and stay up for 2 days straight.
I liked the mix of modern earth life and the casual acceptance of gods and their favor in everyday modern earth life. I disliked that there was no serious discussion of an afterlife in all of that.
I haven't but I might look them up in the future.
I thought Fred did a good job of narrating. Didn't make any mistakes that I heard and he did manage to make the characters mostly distinct from each other.
