"The most awesome book since Changes"
I liked all the really twisty turns in this book that turned in ways I didn't expect and I really like how James Marsters is really putting his all into improving his voices. I mean butters was different and very distinct this book.
Kris Kringle hangs out at the Winter Fey court.
The scene where we finally get to see the Outer Gates and get a real understanding of the Outsiders and their threat to Dresdan's world. It really showed the Lovecraftian influence.
Yes, yes a thousands times yes. I got it midnight as it was released Tuesday morning and have been listening to it almost non-stop since Tuesday and today is Wednesday at 8:30 PM.
Buy the book, buy the whole series on audio. Its fun and interesting and it only improves with each book. But do yourself a service and make sure to start at the first couple so you get all the in jokes in the later books. But even if you don't each book is a pretty good place to start since Jim Butcher really prepares the reader with information at important scenes so new readers aren't lost.
"Good sequel"
I've had hundreds so I'd put this series in the thirties, which is saying a lot for me. In this series it self I give it second place. A lot happens in this one and significant changes finally occur and some emotional scenes for the characters.
Nick, always Nick. With Artemis a second in this book. Which is awesome since she only had one or two scenes. But in those few scenes a lot of character development took place.
She brings a great performance in attitude, accents and saying the words the way the probably should be said and not how I'd think they should be said if I just read the book.
Yes, but I can't say since it would be a major spoiler for the book.
"Mediocer continuation"
No, because while I'm interested in the ideas the book explores it takes forever to actually get anything done. I feel this story could have been covered in half the time.
I would only recommend it if they where heavy fans of Mr. Herbert or Mr. Anderson
Very Fair, I just think the material dragged the story done some.
A little, but not the full time it took to listen to it.
"Pretty funny"
I loved the comedy, plus the price was right for the length of the show.
The inversion of a lot of old time fairy tail characters and strange twists in their stories.
I like full cast acting in books. Brings a lot more life to the story like old time drama radio.
When snow dies out of stupidity.
"Begining of a New YA series"
I liked the description of the characters personality and their build up of their characters in the book. It definitely made them real and human to me. The thing I liked the least was the pacing. I'm used to Sanderson's other books that are either epic in length or singles in his Cosmere universe so more gets explained. As it is I liked the book but feel that it ended just as it started getting to the good stuff. I will get the second book when it comes out.
I didn't really have favorite but I guess I liked Melody a little more than the main point of view charachter Joel.
Yes, I listened to Micheal Kramers performance and his partners for all of the Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series and Sandersons "Way of Kings" and I really enjoy his performance and how he subtly expresses feelings and attitude in his characters voices.
Yes, this book was worth listening to, I just wish be got more into the meat of the story before the end.
"This book is Worth it. Buy this book"
The narrator makes all the different characters come alive and have real passion. I'm glad I got this on audio. This is a real interesting look at some of the alternate traditions for Christmas and a subtle and not so subtle poke at the commercialism that has come to be Christmas and lake of true spirit of the holiday reminding everyone to be good to each other and enjoy life and probably a look at some of the pagan traditions of that year made up or real. Its really fun.
Krampus definitely. He's part savage elemental spirit, whiny child, Yule lord and noble lord and cruel Santa. His performed voice was memorable and captivating.
No I haven't listened to any other of Kirby Heborne's performances, but I'll certainly be on the look out for them. This book would only be half as good with out his voice to perform it and he really performs it and doesn't just read it to us. I listened to the books all day for two days because I couldn't put it down.
"It is good to be terrible" Krampus The Yule Lord.
Buy the book, you'll enjoy it, just don't listen with young children there is a lot of cussing by evil characters and some vulgar talk from a bad guy. but other than that it is awesome.
"Another book"
I've listened to hundres so I'll that it falls in the middle. Not horrible but not great. The reader was good, but the story just didn't meet the epic promise of the eighteenth book.
The most interestng aspect was learning about the history of the elves and demons and learning a little about what demons were like before the war with the elves. The least intersting was the drama with nick and ivy. Honestly the side characters like jinks have gotten to be more interesting than Rachels stupid love life.
She does a good clear active performance.
Seeing Al in his former self before the war.
"More fast and more exciteing than the first 2 book"
Well if you like the first two books you'll like this one. This book made me realize that each book has focused on the origin story of one or more characters each. The first book told us about Lisha, Arlen and Rouger, the second book told us about Jarder and how he grew up. This third book focuses on Innevera and her origins covering her life and many scenes we have already seen with Jarder, During the narration we see her thoughts and learn that while she is ruthless she isn't as evil and self serving as we may have thought and I thought that was really interesting seeing that hidden side of her. We also learn more about the powers growing in Arlen and the greater purpose and abilities of the Crown and Spear of the original Deliverer. If you like action, intrigue and interesting magic and human emotion then get this book, or if this is your first time go back to the first book and get it. You'll enjoy it.
"Informative"
This book was pretty good. It follows the transformation of a decent man into an evil emotionless hollow man whose goals are totally warped by the dark side of the force. I think this book was interesting to learn how the Star Wars universe converted from many sith to only two. It explains it more completely and for me that was reason enough to get it to understand why their are only two sith in the movies.
That said I won't be getting book 2 or 3 because this was the only portion of the story that is at all relevant to the larger story of star wars and the 2 books just tell about later portions of Banes life.
"Funny with a side of yuck!"
I would, because while not as funny as Redshirts by this author this is pretty funny.
I liked the main character satire about his own species and profession.
Wil Wheaton is good at voicing dry humor.
I did laugh quite a lot.
