"Waste of a credit"
The narration takes classics and turns them into boring information. Buy the books -- read them yourself -- the information is good, the delivery is awful.
"Great listen"
If you fish, like to eat fish, and/or care about our environment, you will enjoy this book. From the personal story at its beginning to the common sense epilogue, this book is extremely well done (and well narrated), weaving in first-hand research along with entertaining stories. This is the kind of book you will want to listen to for hours and will be disappointed when it concludes.
"Buy the print edition"
There is a ton of useful information in this book, but the narration is horrible (perhaps the worst I've ever listened to) -- barely audible at times. Buy the print edition, skip this version.
"Way too long"
The concept of this book is great -- the research is quite in-depth. But there is way too much detail which takes us away from the main thrust of the book -- that FDR's policies likely contributed to a lengthening of the Great Depression. Too often we have to listen to microscopic details about quite minor figures in the book. Take a pass on this one.
"The only investigative reporter in DC"
Provides a behind the scenes view of the Bush White House. Interesting to get first-hand reporting to learn how decisions are made. Not too surprising that the President failed to listen to his top advisers; refused to tell the truth to the public that his Iraq policy was a failure; and had a view of the war that is not is not based on reality. January 20, 2009 can't come soon enough.
"Excellent choice"
A well-researched book with fascinating detail about a complex person, this is one of the better biographies available on audible.com. I will also seek other books read by this narrator -- he did a great job of picking up the pace and therefore holding my interest. The only small weakness is toward the end of the book, when the author moved away from Jackson, focusing more on expansionism.
"A poor choice"
I've listened to several dozen books from Audible.com -- and dozens of others. This is a dreadful book -- boring, slow, and read poorly. It is the only book I've ever stopped listening to. Don't waste your money, or credit, on this one.
"Great listen"
Packed with insight, and read by the author, this ia an outstanding listen. His no-nonsense news style comes through loud and clear.
"Too long"
This is a good two-hour book -- the problem is that after the second hour there are three more. Insight into politics is interesting, but who cares about Tom Cruise, twins, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer?
"Good historical book"
The author does a great job of researching in-depth detail into Lincoln and those who he surrounded himself with. While strong with new information in the first half of the book, the second half contains information that an avid Lincoln fan already has read several times. A good "listen" nonetheless.
