When Arlene Fleet heads up north for college, she makes three promises to God: She will stop fornicating with every boy who crosses her path; never tell another lie; and never, ever go back to the "fourth rack of hell", her hometown of Possett, Alabama. All she wants from Him is one little miracle: make sure the body is never found.

Things are not necessarily as they seem in this fast paced story. The characters build depth and interest as the story builds little by little. Hard to put down!

Daughter of a cold, controlling mother and an anonymous donor, studious, obedient Elizabeth finally let loose one night, drinking too much at a nightclub and allowing a strange man’s seductive Russian accent to lure her to a house on Lake Shore Drive. The events that followed changed her life forever. Twelve years later, the woman now known as Abigail Lowery lives alone on the outskirts of a small town in the Ozarks. Along Came a Spider first introduced Alex Cross, the brilliant homicide detective. When the daughter of a Hollywood actress and the son of the Secretary of the Treasury are kidnapped, Cross and the Secret Service are pitted against Gary Soneji, a murderous serial kidnapper who wants to commit the crime of the century.

Do you have any additional comments?

I would have enjoyed this book more if it hadn't felt like I was being F-bombed. Maybe it plays differently on the printed page, but in the audio version all the swearing felt distracting and gratuitous. Honestly hampered my enjoyment of an otherwise pretty good book.

Between avoiding the FBI and their moronic profiling computer, joining a dating service, mixing it up with street thugs, and parrying the advances of an uncouth PI, Lieutenant Jacqueline Daniels and her binge-eating partner Herb must catch a frightening maniac who calls himself "The Gingerbread Man" before he kills again...and Jack is next on his murder list.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I bought several Konrath books on a 'paperback' sale, and started with the first in the Jack Daniels series. I really like Jack and the main characters, but the some of the murder scenes are stomach-turningly detailed. The villian is creepy, I get it - not sure I need this much detail. I will still listen to the next book in the series, because I really do like the female detective lead character.

What about Susie Breck and Dick Hill ’s performance did you like?

Performance was really enjoyable. With both a male and a female voice, the characters really come alive and the actors really differentiate well between the characters.
