"Not one of my favorites"
I usually love Baldacci's audiobooks but this one for me was just ok. The story was kind of slow and I really didn't care for Ron McClarty's reading. He doesn't do a good British accent and he wasn't consistent with it. I know I have liked him before because he has read several other Baldacci books.
"Meh"
I didn't enjoy this installment as much as the first. It was tedious listening for most of the book. Not much action. I still want to hear the next book though.
"Gets Better and Better!"
Lots of surprises here! I wish Audible had the Roy Dotrice edition of Book 4. I decided to wait for it rather than hear it read by someone else.
"I'm Hooked!"
I enjoyed this book a bit more than the first and I'm actually liking Roy Dotrice's voice more. I still get lost amongst the seemingly hundreds of different characters though! I feel I need a book to explain the book!
"Good !"
I'm nearly done and I must say I'm enjoying it, for the most part. I do feel that I need an index of characters so I can learn them all. It can get confusing at times. Roy Dotrice is a good reader but he makes every character sound like an old man. There's not much change from person to person either. Certain characters stand out but I think I could be enjoying the story more with a younger sounding British accent.
"Meh..."
I was excited at the prospect of a fun series but after hearing the first book, I don't think I want to continue. I just couldn't warm up to the main character, Betsy. She is really irritating! Too whiny and sarcastic. She sounds more like a teenager than a 30 yr. old. After reading some of the other reviews on the other books, it sounds like she doesn't develop in character much. Oh, well!
"Loved it!!!"
This is one of my favorite series and I hope there will be many more to follow with Johanna Parker reading!!
"Another winner!"
I love the Amelia Peabody series! I hope Ms. Peters continues it awhile longer with Barbara Rosenblatt reading. She really brings the characters to life!
"Awesome!"
I really loved all these books and can't wait for the movie ! (U.S. version)
"Meh..."
I really enjoy books of this genre - historical fiction and mysticism - but this book was kind of drawn out at times. Maybe an unabridged version would have been better? I did like the way that the characters in the past and present were similar to each other. All in all, I felt like I was left sort of flat at the end.
