In spite of the hype, I found myself struggling to keep listening. The main character is so naive and makes mistake after mistake, the novel is too frustrating. I want my characters to inspire. I dropped out two thirds of the way through. Waste of time.

While difficult to feel pride in this chapter of our American heritage, this book carries you through the historic period guided by the US policy of manifest destiny. The central character is Kit Carson, who embodies the phrase 'a legend in his own time.' If ever there was a man of skill, integrity, honor and fortune, it is he. Carson was a man who defined good in an era when the US imposed its will on Native Americans. The book does not make Kit Carson infallible, but it does provide a sound, timeless role model.

There are also many others on all sides of the conflicts, who portray the best and worst of the human character.

Twenty hours is a long story, but I found myself antsy to carve time to keep 'turning the pages.'

Once past Ester's intro (which may send people running with its drippy polyanna) and once into the conceptual framework, one cannot find that 'tuning in to your own frequency' of desires and expanded world actually changes the habits of how you think and interact with your world. Still, I could not get past the urg to resist what is akin to brainwashing. It has many similarities to evangelism...you have to believe in order for this to work. It is a bit hedonistic, too. In spite of all that, it left an impact.

The writing also gets a bit overbearing at times. Referring to 'delicious' experiences got old.

If you are looking for spirituality and or self-improvement, this may be a good read.

I loved this book. Not only was it masterfully written and narrated, it inspired me to be a better person. This should be a must for all those who study and aspire to leadership.
