Can love survive the ultimate test? Brett Rutland, Carter Engineering's top troubleshooter, is sent to the L.A. office to crack a case of embezzlement. Brett's a hard man, so it hit him like a sledgehammer when he fell in love with Tessa Conway. Half the men in the office had been in love with her for years, but Brett was the first she'd loved in return. Their love is perfect, too perfect to last. And when Brett discovers the identity of the embezzler, his whole world is about to come crashing down.

What would have made The Cutting Edge better?

My bad! I forgot to double check and this is an old book. The performance is good. The story line is trite and the main male character is a chauvinistic pig.

Would you ever listen to anything by Linda Howard again?

I would make sure it was a brand new release. Linda Howard's books are 100% better now.

    Which scene was your favorite?

    There were no favorite scenes.

Andrew Yancy - late of the Miami Police and soon-to-be-late of the Monroe County sheriff’s office - has a human arm in his freezer. There’s a logical (Hiaasenian) explanation for that, but not for how and why it parted from its shadowy owner. Yancy thinks the boating-accident/shark-luncheon explanation is full of holes, and if he can prove murder, the sheriff might rescue him from his grisly Health Inspector gig (it’s not called the roach patrol for nothing). But first - this being Hiaasen country - Yancy must negotiate an obstacle course of wildly unpredictable events with a crew of even more wildly unpredictable characters.

What would have made Bad Monkey better?

We tried to listen to this book on a vacation trip. We've always been big fans of Carl Hiaasen's books but the narration was disappointing and we never finished it. We switched to a different book. It just didn't hold our interest.

Has Bad Monkey turned you off from other books in this genre?

    No.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Bad Monkey?

I can't really even remember much and it was only 2 weeks ago.

    Any additional comments?

Possibly reading the book would have been better.
