A rich tale of a gloomy time. Between the writer and the reader this was one story I didn't regret a penny spent on it. The story weaves around characters, in and out, back and around, so artfully I was sad when it ended. It's quite different from the Red Tent, but I highly recommend it.
The setting of the mystery in a moon colony is just not for show. It adds to the trouble and the suspense. Very clever.
The key to a good mystery is having a villian who is a match for the investigator. I didn't have that satisfaction here. Between the smart ex-cop, loyal chief cop, and sexy new cop from the city, there was never any doubt that all would be well.
This is not a happy book. It's a war story. The ending is very realistic and ultimately very satisfying. Made me say a prayer for all the families in the war zones. I hope they will also have the chance for peace.
This is only half the remaining story. It need the final installment to finish the story arc. I listened to all three books one after the other and the constant angst Katniss has over Gayle and Pieta begins to grate.
Well written, well told. It's an excellent read and worth continuing to the rest of the series.
The consequences young people are forced to deal with when parents abandon them...you are so rooting for the daughter. The vocabulary and customs of the region is quite fascinating.
This is an easy summer listen. Nothing too serious. Well written. I found the historical elements quite interesting.
This book had everything. Suspense, originality, And a Dr Who kind of kookiness.
Not sure. It was suggested to me after liking the Hunger Games but there is more humour and supernatural elements. I told my husband it was like a dr who episode told by the shopoholic.
Honestly, the first chapter was so well written I've gone back to listen to it again. But all the scenes have such a sense of place and suspense, I have no idea how he kept it up throughout the book.
When we find out how the herine lost her memory. I thought it was going to be just a simple reveal but it was quite heartbreaking.
Enjoy. I will definitely listen to this a second time. The only downside is I'll be waiting two years for the next installments.
I let six months pass after listening to CHILD 44 before I started this book as other listeners found it a disappointment.
I didn't. I enjoyed it very much. There were a couple of clunky moments but otherwise I was so emotionally invested in these characters I was desperate for a Happy Ever After.
The beginning of this book is top-notch writing but the middle bogs down in a coming-of-age romance with a zero suspense. If you like pure romance the story will probably statisfy, but if you are looking for a plot similar to the her previous books the action/suspense is not there.
This is not suitable for children or teens as a previous reviewer suggests as there are many sexual scenes.
