This is book 3 in the Deep in the Heart of Texas Series. I've listened to all three books and recommend all of them. Listening to the books in order is preferable (so you can get to know the crazy people of Bramble, TX) but not necessary. This is a story about picking up the pieces of your life and starting over. It's about appreciating family and friends and realizing that truly the best things in life are free.
Although this story is very fun, there are parts that are very sad and I cried my eyes out (and I'm not a crier). But all the suffering was so very worth it to get such a satisfying wonderful ending. I can't wait for the next book to come out in audio format.
Narration: Nicole Poole is a great narrator. She nails that Texan drawl! And she adds to the story by making it funnier and more vivid. I actually started reading this book and found the audio version much better. If you are looking for a fun contemporary romance listen and don't mind the heavy Texan drawl then you need to get this.
I seem to be a minority here but I didn't like this book. The author wrote scene after scene of the most boring and bland sex scenes ever. Literally this couple spent a month trying to get pregnant and basically 28 of those days our heroine was looking at the ceiling and the hero gave her "his seed" in about thirty seconds. Those thirty seconds were followed by deep conversations about cows and country living...
The narration was very good and it's the only reason why I actually finished the book. The last hour or so of the story was very sweet and I liked the ending but I wish I could get those 12 hours of my life back...
Well it seems that my very favorite narrator is now using the pseudonym GC VanCloudts. I believe her original name is Therese Plummer and she can narrate a newspaper and make it sound like the most fascinating thing you've heard. Yes, she's that good.
The story was just ok for me. It was very hot and heavy but I felt like the story was mostly about sex. The paranormal world wasn't developed and I kept wondering what our main couple had in common besides strong libidos. That said the story did spark my curiosity and I will be listening to other books in this series as long as they are narrated by this same amazing narrator.
I got this book thinking it was a Highlander story but it is set in modern day Scotland. The things I learned by listening to this book are:
- Scottish men were amazing hundreds of years ago... and they still are!
- I absolutely love the Scottish accent
- Great narration makes the time go by quicker.
Yes I recommend this book! It's not only set in Scotland with that amazing accent and great narration but our hero is also a movie star... I'm in love!
This was one of those audiobooks that I couldn't stop listening to. I found it very entertaining and there were some plot twists that I wasn't expecting. It was actually funny how Jeremy was questioning his sexuality because he was attracted to Charlie and the things that happened because of that. There was a good build up to the romance and although there was only one love scene I did feel the romantic connection between Jeremy and Charlie. This is a fun story that I recommend. The narrator also did a fine job with the accents and adding intensity to the story as well.
This story has the qualities I like on a romance story: a sweet romance with hot scenes, a well developed, believable story with mystery and excitement. Unfortunately the narrator is so-so at best. She makes great voices for the females but doesn't even try to simulate male voices. All males sounded the same as females which is distracting and weird. Anyway the story is still so good that I recommend this book.
If Harlequin commissioned a Fifty Shades of Grey remake this would be it. I saw many similarities in the storyline. I didn't mind that and enjoyed the story. I do have an issue with this being a "collection" of stories. The term collection seems to be more of a marketing tool because it's just one standard book. It has many hot love scenes and the romance is believable. You also get an introduction to Sam and Maddie's story which is a bonus and makes you want to listen to the next book. The narrator does a pretty good job as well.
I struggled so much to finish this book because of the narrator. So many things were wrong with Ms. Flosnick. She sounds too old to bring life to our young heroine. It was also impossible to distinguish all other characters. All men sounded the same and the midwife sounded like a man. The story is good but the narrator makes this a painfully boring experience.
I really liked this book! Yes our heroine Triona was immature at times but still this story has the three elements I need to have on historical romances in order to like them: interesting adventure, hot romance and great narration. This book had all three so I do recommend it if you like Irish/highlander historical romances.
This has been the only Courtney Milan book I haven't enjoyed. This isn't really a romance story, it's more historical fiction. It's the story of Violet and how she went through a journey of self acceptance, she fought for women's rights and equality and found love on the way. The romance is very mild and I got bored hearing about the inheritance of traits in plants. Not even the amazing narration saved this story for me. I do not recommend it. All the other books in The Brother Sinister series are excellent thought.
This is a fluffy easy listen. It's ok but not a book I would listen to again. The first one was much better. I guess my issue is that the storyline is too fantastic. Katie is a Paris Hilton type character. She's a spoiled rich party girl who happens to get a baby in her doorstep (yeah right). The baby came with adoption papers and everything! The story of who the parents are, how the baby ended up with Katie and how she wants to quit party and socializing just to take care of the baby is unrealistic. The romance also didn't quite do it for me. This book is good if you get it on a good sale and want an easy listen while on vacation.
