"thumbs down"
This book is totally forgettable, not one saving grace, well perhaps one, the narrator did the best he could with what he had.
With perhaps 2 hours remaining, I decided to move on with my life and erase this book from my mp3 player
"shameful waste of time"
I agree with everyone review that gave it 1 star, if there was zero star I would give that, it is totally idiotic and non-captivating, I finally gave up and went to the last 20 minutes of the story, then immediately erased it from my device and computer.
"torture"
I did not finish listening to this book because I started getting a tick just from listening the breathing of the narrator, it was totally distracting.
I really tried, I read a previous comment about the breathing, but unfortunately, I did not take heed.
"great story"
This is a very good book, perhaps "great story" is over the top. As a black man, there are moments in the book that I had to fast forward or even stop listening momentarily because of the suspense and drama.
Narration is good and the lenght of the story is appropriate
"Silly Story"
This book is essentially about a character with no life, a bore with cliches that basically is very hard to like.
The narrator is good and does a decent job to make the story pallatable.
May work for you in a pinch
"A re-hash"
Pillars of the Earth is a very entertaining and compelling story told with great narration, but this book is almost a mirrow image of the above mentioned book, narration is good, story is very similar.
If you listen to one, perhaps you should by-pass the second one, in my opinion, Pillars of the Earth is by far the better book
"A true epic"
This book is a great story that comes to a fine conclusion.
I certainly recommend it, the narration is top shelf and the story line moves with a smooth flow.
Even with 30 minutes remaining to the story, there are still characters whose fate are to be determined.
The book stokes the hawk in me for solutions to the problems encountered, but the solutions to the problems come from the dove
"they must be good sometimes"
In this book, it is very difficult to find positive events or task that the CIA performed, but I assume that they must have done a few things that benefited our country.
I guess it is the people, more so than the idea behind the CIA that makes this book such an indictment of that agency.
Makes me think of the bad apple affecting the whole bunch while the CIA's stance is that only the negative is acknowledged and the positive is un-noticed.
I would recommend the book for serious listeners that want information that may shed some light on current affairs
"not bad"
this book is intertaining if you have the patience to listen to such a long story, the narrator does an excellent job most of the time. My only reservation is that perhaps the author leave things out that he would rather not mention, you decide for yourself.
"barely got through it"
this book is long and it was fairly difficult for me to complete. went to see the movie while listening to the book and I found the movie to be barebones of the book with the cliches thrown out there and besides that nothing of substance that would inspire one to read the book.
I cannot recommend this book or the movie based on this book
