"Soothing and timely reminder to slow down"
I join all the other reviewers who have praised this audiobook. Eckhart Tolle's voice is soothing and his message is a reminder to take life one day at a time. Even if you're not "carrying around a lot of pain", which hopefully is most listeners, the overall theme of the book is a valuable perspective on how to live your life calmly.
"Toss out the sleeping pills!"
I've had this audiobook for over a year now, and it has become indispensible to me for helping me when I can't otherwise relax to fall asleep. I don't take sleeping pills anymore, except for an overnight flight or to overcome jetlag. There are three guided hypnosis sessions, preceded each by an explanatory chapter. Most nights I listen to Chapter 4's session, and I rarely have to listen to it twice, and usually I fall asleep before it ends. Chapter 2's session has helped me overcome anxieties related to traveling, but I've only occasionally listened to the one in Chapter 6, to get me motivated to do something difficult, the last time dieting :D, which incidentally worked beautifully. I happen to be susceptible to this sort of hypnosis, and I can imagine that this would not work for everybody. However, it's been my best audible.com purchase to date.
"Murder mystery for the delicately nurtured"
A murder mystery for the delicately nurtured, or those who merely wish to escape the daily grind and grittiness. In the Miss Marple genre, but with a heroine who has youthful, girlish exuberance and the patina of royalty. This is the latest delightful instalment in this lighthearted series, which never fails to provide enough plot twists and surprises, to keep the listener engaged. Perfect for an overnight transatlantic flight or for cheering up time spent dreary waiting rooms.
"A modern twist on the English village story"
Insightful and charming in the best of the English village story tradition, with contemporary references and reflecting current social challenges. Miss Read brought into the 21st century.
