Amazing book --made even MORE amazing by the incredible Claire Danes narration.

This book is nearly prophetic as our country tiptoes closer and closer to a theocracy. No one would have believed you in 1985 that in the 21st century OUR country would be redefining rape, would legislate unnecessary invasive medical procedures against women who want to control their own reproductive rights, or would argue about protecting women from violence because such legislation protects the "wrong" type of women (?)... Surely by the 21st century, such things would be seem outlandish and Orwellian!

Little did we know, that in 2013 we are not that far from a Gileadian future.

Listening to Ms. Danes bring this book to life made it nearly impossible for me to pause the narration... I didn't want the book to end..

This is a must-read for every woman --and man.

This book is SO well-written and superbly performed by the narrators --I felt like I could actually see it all taking place. I don't know how badly Hollywood is going to mess up the big-screen adaption of this book, so DEFINITELY listen to this audiobook before you see the movie!

Color me impressed. I always thought she was talented --NOW I KNOW how VERY talented she is. If you sorta like her, read this book: You will fall in love with her. If you already love her, then this book simply seals the deal! I highly recommend this book!

Excellent book! Like his other books, this one is just as informative and enlightening --it's kind of like brain food! Definitely a must-have to your audiobook library.

I still don't understand how or why people get sucked into her cult of personality. I guess if you're an evangelical it makes sense: (You already believe it batsh*ttery theology, so why not blindly follow Sarah?) And as you will learn, the Palin-bots (her campaign workers/staff) and the Palin fans-- are ALL evangelical Christians.
Frank Bailey is no mental giant and schemer. This really isn't an "O-woe-is-me-Sarah-deceived-me" attempt to make tons of money --although, he will. This book is simply his story from his experiences and more importantly --from his email correspondences with Palin!
I have to say I came away from this book being amazed at how media savvy Sarah Palin is. I don't equate this savviness with the standard/commonly recognized definition of intelligence. She has some odd social intelligence. She knows how to manipulate the average, unread, uneducated, ill-informed American citizenry into loving her.
Read this book and get some insights into the Cult of Palin --and then be sure to vote Democrat in 2012!

Michael Shermer is a very smart man. He gives great interviews and speeches --but that doesn't mean he should have narrated his own book. (Just because you CAN read doesn't mean you should do it aloud.)

The production is kind of shoddy too --you can hear pages being turned; he mispronounces a few words and slightly stumbles over others; and then there's the obnoxious use of music that is used to introduce and end chapters.

Aside from those flaws, it's a very informative book. Like I said: Shermer is a VERY smart man and he does a very thorough job of presenting his research and material. I would recommend it.

Did I really need to know about the battles fought over bird dung? The inordinate amount of time spent on detailing the battles fought over this was mind numbingly boring. I would recommend the ' other book "The Demon Under the Microscope" --it was much better.

If you loathe children (like I do) then having to listen to a "child" narrate this audiobook is akin to nails on a chalkboard. I avoid children whenever possible --they are loud, annoying, and obnoxious. (Granted, if they had better parents who would/should/could control them, it probably wouldn't be so bad --but alas, this is never the case.)

Apparently the latest trend in audiobooks is to have multiple narrators "act" out the book --and in some cases this works. "The Passage" by Justin Cronin had multiple narrators --but only for specific sections and only for specific characters --and it worked for me. This book just made my skin crawl --and NOT in the good way.

I deleted this book from my iTunes library after 30 minutes and just wish I could get a refund.

Horrible narration. He narrates like he has cerebral palsy. He's no David Sedaris... And after this book, I'm not going to waste my time (or my Audible credits) on another book of his.
