"Amazing"
The narration of this book is JUST right. The story is JUST right. It's a simply superb mix of fantasy, historical fiction, and mystery. I really don't know how the author keeps all the threads from tangling into a big ball and running the reader over but she does, she really does. Hah! BTW, That last sentence is an insider for the folks who have read the novel. . The character development is terrific as well.
I think what I liked best is when Blue forgives Gansy for being an Aglionby boy and comes to terms with the fact that he may indeed be her true love. I suspect a bit of Romeo and Juliette to develop in the coming novels because yes, this is yet another trilogy in the making and I do so HATE that I'll have to wait so long for the end.
This novel was categorized as YA but it's one of those great stories for the ages. Read it with or without your teen.
"LOVED IT"
I would recommend this book to any baby boomer who loved summer camp for sure, for sure for sure. This book took me back in time to the wonderful summers I spent learning about life and people.
I could compare it to Gone Girl because I absolutely did not want either of these books to end. Now I'll have to settle for a while because I know how hard it is to find just right books like these.
"Inspiring story of immigrant success."
I wish all of my high school students would read this amazing story of a young girl who saw something better for herself, set high goals for herself and managed through hard work, great mentors and her own intelligence to achieve them.
The themes in this book are echoed in Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt.
I was especially moved by the family support Sonya had.
"LOVED IT!"
I'd say this is one of the best audio books I've listened to.
I loved all the twists and turns. A mystery all wrapped up in social commentary. Not sure whether nobody wins or if most everybody wins in the end of this book.
This one keeps you on edge until almost the end.
"Great Story"
I would recommend this story for anyone who loves a romantic mystery.
I really enjoyed how the author brought all the characters together in a satisfying ending.
Caroline Lee did a great job of bringing the heroine Ellie to life.
"Amazing! So sad I've finished it."
I'm a high school librarian and I've already started book talking this book to students and teachers. The title Revolution refers to the French Revolution and it is a wonderful combination of contemporary fiction, historical fiction, and mystery with a touch of romance thrown in. I think this one will appeal to both boys and girls. Musical references are woven into the story and now I feel compelled to visit itunes to check out the composers the main character loves.
I'm currently searching madly for another title that might fill that void I always feel when I've finished a really wonderful title. This is the best book I've read since finishing Life of Pi! Thank you so much Jennifer Donnelly.
"Not a big fan of mystery"
I don't usually choose mysteries or adventure, I'm more of a historical fiction lover but I really did enjoy this one. Larsson does a great job with his characters. I'll be looking for more books by this author.
