What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The story was lacking and the ending too predictable. It had potential but failed miserably. Too much was crammed into one book and there was not enough depth.

Has The Marriage Bargain turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, I still enjoy this genre and there will always be good and bad for everyone.

How could the performance have been better?

The narration was far too fast. At times I couldn't tell what the narrator was saying. Not sure if it was sped up to fit into one download or not but it was far too fast.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    Neat concept, just not executed.

Young, beautiful, and successful, Elena Michaels seems to have it all. Her happy, organized life follows a predictable pattern: filing stories for her job as a journalist, working out at the gym, living with her architect boyfriend, and lunching with her girlfriends from the office. And once a week, in the dead of night, she streaks through a downtown ravine, naked and furred, tearing at the throats of her animal prey. Elena Michaels is a werewolf.

Where does Bitten rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Very high. Bitten has exceptional narration and a wonderful story with excellent character development. It took me very little time to be engrossed in the book and wanting to know what was coming next. I enjoyed meeting all the characters and look forward to the next book, which is next on my list.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bitten?

The character development of Elena and Clay.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Introduction of Clay and Elena's boyfriend at the time.

If you could take any character from Bitten out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Clay, sexy, strong, passionate, unique, loyal and just hot!

The story begins in 1962. On a rocky patch of the sun-drenched Italian coastline, a young innkeeper, chest-deep in daydreams, looks out over the incandescent waters of the Ligurian Sea and spies an apparition: a tall, thin woman, a vision in white, approaching him on a boat. She is an actress, he soon learns, an American starlet, and she is dying. And the story begins again today, half a world away, when an elderly Italian man shows up on a movie studio's back lot - searching for the mysterious woman he last saw at his hotel decades earlier.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I did enjoy this book but found it a bit too grim for me.

Would you be willing to try another book from Sara Gruen? Why or why not?

    Yes

    Which scene was your favorite?

    The animal stampede

Could you see Water for Elephants being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

    It already is.

    Any additional comments?

I think the story was a great idea, however, it was just a bit too grim for me.
