Amusing, astounding, enlightening

I am interested in the same things that Jon Ronson is obsessed with.

John Ronson is an excellent reader of his own work, and since the central character in this book is himself, I'd have to say John Ronson is my favorite character in the book. Although I also loved hearing about Stanley Kubrik!

I'd highly recommend this audiobook to anyone. It's a great listen. Ronson is an excellent journalist and this collection of insightful short pieces gets right to the heart of what is going on in the world today.

I'm not sure. I have some issues with the readers, and sometimes feel that they don;t quite bring enough passion to the story. But overall I liked them and must appreciate the mammoth task they have done in maintaining a consistently satisfactory standard over the entire series.

Matrim Coffin. He brings some much needed humor and levity into the saga.

I felt they did their best job so far on the series with this one, managing to put some life and personality in the many different characters in the book

The epic conclusion to an epic saga

OK, I've had my ups and downs with this series. At first I felt it was just another Lord of the Rings knock off, but it held my intretest, and there was just enough in the first book to make me curious as to what happened next. I kept going for a while, never quite sure where the story was going, but I found myself really losing interest after about the 4th book. It just never really felt like it was going anywhere. But after quite a long break, I found myself feeling more accepting of the story's slow, meandering nature, so I decided to pick it up again, determined to plough on through to the end. However, by around the 10th book, the whole thing seemed to have slowed to a complete stop. It felt like the series had gotten so overloaded with characters and plots, that each book could now only devote about 1 chapter to a character and almost nothing seemed to be happening at all! I mean this entire series only covers about a total of two years in the lives of the characters.

Then Robert Jordan died, and it looked like the whole series was just going to be left hanging out there and without an ending. It all felt totally pointless. Then Brandon Sanderson came along, and in my opinion he has totally saved the whole thing.I don't want to be too damning of Robert Jordan's writing, as I did I like the series enough to keep coming back to it, but I really hadn't felt that it was particularly original and didn't really care all that much about many of the characters.

I don't know how much of the ending was actually planned by Robert Jordan, but the last 3 books are by far the best in the series. Suddenly things begin to happen. The story actually starts moving forward. All the characters' story arcs are brought to emotionally satisfying, conclusions. Interesting, exciting and surprising things start happeing quite frequently and the whole story suddenly seems to have a point. Brandon Sanderson manages to treat each character and storyline in just the right was as to make me see just why exactly I was supposed to have found them interesting previously!

Yes, this book, as an ending to such a long series, is so good that it casts a positive light on all the previous material. So much so that I think actually want to go back and listen to the whole thing over again!!!
