What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The performances were generally good... However somewhere along the way I realized that a sentence would be repeated, and then I noticed it more and more. It became very annoying by the end. This book was poorly edited... I believe the voice actor was asked to repeat a sentence, and somebody forgot to edit the repeats out. OOPS!

Peabody Award-winning broadcaster and National Humanities Medalist Krista Tippett has interviewed the most extraordinary voices examining the great questions of meaning for our time. The heart of her work on her national public radio program and podcast, On Being, has been to shine a light on people whose insights kindle in us a sense of wonder and courage.

A was disappointed to realize that this was a long form podcast. There were so many interview breakouts that it became really distracting. It was like listening to a long NPR talk show, which for me can become annoying, as there is a forced sincerity.

The interviewees were mostly community activists, none from business world, few from academia, and only a couple from science/engineering. That was disappointing. I don't believe that poets and activists hold a monopoly on wisdom or becoming wise. They may be able to articulate their ideas better grant you.

There was a lot of poetry.

I almost returned this book after skipping whole chapters, but there were good stories and some things that made me think in new directions.
