This book was the sappiest thing I have ever come across. It was shameless with ridiculous sentimentality. Got to the last few chapters and just stopped. I felt like my IQ dropped a few points for entertaining it for that long.

Get more real! He either is the most sensitive human being on the planet or is just catering to lonely women in desperate, and I mean desperate need, of some love and affection.

Maybe.

I love the development of all of Follett's characters. He takes the reader back in time and gives an unbiased look at what it would be like to live through WWII. As the reader you the story is brought to life through the characters' experiences.

This is a wonderful book about WWII that is objective and not biased. It really gives the reader the perspective of what it means to be at war, what leads to it for every country involved, without having the story being navigated with a political agenda. Also Follett provides the human experience of what it is to live through the war on different continents.

This book rates in the top 10.

Francie Nolan is my favorite character, although I loved her aunt cici and her mother as well. All the characters were so richly written and so intertwined that it's hard not to love them all.

Not sure, but I thought she did a wonderful job with 'A Tree Grows In Brooklyn'.

I couldn't stop listening to it. It's such a wonderful story.

This is an American classic worth listening to. So happy I downloaded it.

I found this book incredibly entertaining. After reading it I downloaded a bunch of Sandra Brown books, although this one is my favorite so far. Loved the twists and turns in this book and the hot love affair.

Normally I don't like a male reader performing a woman's role but once I gave it a chance with this narrator I found I forgot all about my previous aversions.

The twist and turns in this story will keep you riveted.

This was a fun book to listen to.

Loved them both. I will reread this book and will always keep it in my collection.

David of course. He is so hilarious and self effacing. I love his wit, charm and sarcasm.

His personality really comes through in his narration although reading the book is really just as good. Take your pick.

I laughed and cried and told the stories to anyone that was in earshot as I finished them. I of course don't do them justice but can't help myself.

This is not really a fair review because I couldn't get past the first few chapter of this book. Way too plotless and detail oriented. So with that said, I guess I am only reviewing the first few chapters, which were a labor I happily left behind.

Not sure yet. Thinking I would love an epic novel, maybe historical fiction. I do love this genre of books though, just find it hard to find a good one. When I do find a good one I tear through it.

The narration wasn't specifically a problem for me.

I wish the author had gone deeper into the development of the characters. I was so looking forward to listening to this book but was a bit disappointed. I couldn't understand why the main character was willing to sacrifice her own safety and nearly her life for people she really didn't seem to have much of a relationship with.

The ending was tragic and left me saying WTF??? Seriously need to have the characters check themselves.

Hope Davis did a great job with the narration.

Maybe. Maybe not. It was kind of un-relatable in it's fantasticness, if that's even a word, but also so disconnected in it's humanness. I mean really some of the things these characters held so close to them as a moral code in the beginning they just deserted too easily as the story unfolded.

I did enjoy listening to this book but not really recommending it to friends.

So many, hard to choose. Loved the scenes with Gayle and also loved Katniss in the game.

Great performance. Kept me interested in the story.

If you can believe it I have never seen the movie or read the book. I enjoyed listening to this book, which is an epic story of an Italian immigrant family who happens to be a major part of the mafia. Found the characters really well developed and the story engrossing.

Great narration.

There were a lot of moving parts of this book but one that stands out for me is Lucy finding love after Sonny's death with a doctor that made her whole in more ways than one.

Can't wait to listen to the second book int his series.

If this book had been as good as the previous ones in this series, I would've given it more stars. I felt like this book was just a loose end tier without any of the character development I am use to from this author. Mostly I felt it was glib. AND I miss the kitsch this author used to insert in her books.

Love the reader! She is very talented and keeps me entertained without distracting from the story.

I would have cut out many of the scenes that seemed to be there just to explain loose ends, which seemed to be the whole book. I also would have the author insert some more tension in Sookie's love life. This whole book was a vague gloss over of her relationship, which has always been the best part of these books.

Take it out of the romance section if you aren't going to have any romance in the book.
