I really enjoyed this book quite a bit, and, unlike some others, really enjoy King's narration. He has a very distinctive voice that sets himself apart from other narrators. My problem, however, was the addition of these strange 'music' additions to the story. Every so often this odd, '80s electronic keyboard music would begin playing. It struck me as very out of place and several times made it a little hard to hear the story.

Larsson has once again crafted a masterful novel. This sequel flows seamlessly from the previous book, bringing back favorite characters while introducing new, equally fascinating friends and even more sinister enemies. Larsson's ability to create characters you care about, even minor ones, is amazing. To be fair, I felt that some of Lisbeth's actions in the beginning seemed out of character for her, but this was easily overlooked as the story progressed and her mindset at the time became clearer. Overall, this was an excellent book, and I once again eagerly look forward to the next story in the trilogy.

I'm not usually one for mysteries, but The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo instantly pulled me in. The mystery itself was very well conceived and executed, with just enough twists and turns to keep me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was listening. It was the characters, though, that truly grabbed my attention. Mikael and Lisbeth are now two of my all-time favorite characters. Even the secondary characters were well fleshed out and interesting. The narration was spot on. I eagerly look forward to the rest of the series!

This is easily one of the creepiest stories ever, and is made creepier by the fact that it's a true story. I never realized how bizarre Manson's story truly was. Simply the kind of thing that you could not make up. Bugliosi's writing was very well done; too often 'true crime' novels can become boring and sterile, but he writes as though he were sitting down to tell you a story. You really get a sense of what it was like to go through this experience. Scott Brick did an excellent job of narrating. He has a very nice hard-boiled detective story voice that never comes off as cheesy or silly. Definitely well worth the credits!

I wasn't expecting a lot from this one, but it ended up surprising me. I think a better comparison would be 28 Days Later meets Super 8, with a bit of Resident Evil thrown in for good measure. I really became fond of the characters and the way they grew in the book. There were one or two loose threads at the end, and the narration had the usual problem of an older reader attempting to do younger voices, but neither of these were enough to detract from the overall story. The "bonus" story at the end didn't really do a whole lot for me, but I look forward to more by Mr. Thomas, hopefully involving these same characters.
