This is the second installment in the Midnight breed series. And it is a good one. The main part of the story took a while to get to because of all the background information and dealings of the other characters and the lack of communication on both sides as to their motives of being with each other.
But once the action began it never stopped. You get to see how the other couples and warriors are doing in this book. Which in my opinion is a good thing. In many series the other characters become inconsequential and forgotten falling to the way side, but not in this one. You also get to see the breed world through more than just the two main characters eyes.
Even though the beginning of the book is slow and the ending is thrust upon you it is a fantastic read. The series really starts to draw you in. With each book the overall scheme of the mastermind whom, as all masterminds want to do "take over the world" gets rolling.
In this book the warriors are put in an untenable situation, save one and risk others or keep the breed population fearing them? What ever choice they make someone will suffer for it. It is a great book and one that I'm happy to have read.
This was a thrill to listen to it really was. The only down side to the book was the narrator. She made the male voices sound creepy and pretty much all the same. I know that when narrators have to read a character that isn't their own gender they do a pretty good job of it but Ms Skyye made the male characters sound unappealing and unattractive.
The author did a beautiful job of writing the story and it was a true joy to listen to. I could hardly stop. I am looking forward to the rest of the books in this series. I can't wait to see what new characters and plot twist Jessica Lane will throw our way. I will hope that Ms. Skyye will not be reading the remaining books after book 2.
This was a fun and quirky book when I first started. As the story went on however I found it to be a bit dragging. I loved the narrator she did an amazing job. This is a book you can enjoy on an afternoon of cleaning. I'm not sure how the rest of the series is going to be, but this first book was for me lacking.
The biggest problem I have with this book is the lack of substance. Everything in the story line is one dimensional and flat. The worst of it was the ending. The author built up to a dramatic and really a pretty epic ending and it just is like the author didn't know how to finish the book. I know that this is a series and the ending should be a cliffhanger, but this wasn't a cliffhanger it was a plunge off a shier rock face. The author missed the mark completely in my opinion.
This was probably one of the worst narration I have ever listened to. The narrator completely destroyed the book. The main male character is Irish. She made him sound souther/ Australian. If she wasn't doing that the other character were depicted as being a child. It was just bad.
It made me so frustrated because the narrator of the first book was so good and then we get this one. Ans she narrates the rest of the series.
With that being said I will NOT be getting the rest of the series. As for the book it was good and very well thought out. I just wish I could enjoy it more but, the narrator was just that bad. Due yourselves a favor and not get this book or any book that she narrates for.
This is the second book in the assassins series. This one was harder for me to get through. The whole time the main female character was winning and being annoying repeating the same argument about why she couldn't be with the man she loves.
About 2/3 of the book was Fallon saying she couldn't be with Lucas. It was really annoying. I can sympathize with her but it was still annoying. I had to stop and start this book several times. Unlike the first book I couldn't read/listen to it straight through. That was the only negative thing about the book. Other than that it was another amazing book.
I have never been a big fan of hockey. But this series made me a fan (of the idea of hockey). It had it all; romance, drama, action, and steam!!!!
This is one book that was amazing from start to finish. This is a book that you will go back to reread again and again and never get tired of it.
I for one am glad that I bought this title and plan on getting the rest of the series.
I honestly can't tell if this was bad because of the writing or because of the narrator. I think it must have some elements of both. It has taken me more than a week to get through the first part of the book. I just couldn't stand to listen to the story for more than an hour or so at a time.
The main character; Claire, is supposed to be this strong independent woman but, she turns out to be a wimp at every turn. I'm not saying that the things she has faced are easy, fun, or a walk in the park but at times you just want to smack some sense into her.
I don't know if I plan on continuing on with the series after this book it is too hard to finish and I don't want to waste my money or a credit. All I can say on this book in particular is to be patient. It will take some time to get through.
This has to be one of my favorite highlander stories. It has love, time travel, thrills, tears, and, laughter. I really can't describe how great this story is. It also helps that the narrator is amazing. I find myself going back to this book when I'm looking for something to read.
In my opinion this is one of the best written highland books on Audible. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys; highland books, time traveling romances and, the narration of Angela Dawe. This is a great read.
This is one of those books you can't hep but reread. It has it all. From suspense to tears. Even though it is a longer book you will be hooked from the moment you start. You won't want to put it down.
Once you have finished the book you will find yourself going back to start over again. I really can't tell you how great this book is other than to recommend it to read.
First let me say that I am a huge fan of the 'Night Huntress' novels. But this one just didn't hit the money for me. Everything in the book you could have predicted. There really wasn't too many surprises. Also it would be nice (not that audible has a say in it for us to get a look into what Bones is thinking instead of it being a first person narration.
Unlike Jeaniene Frost's other books in the series, this one doesn't leave you with a sense that there is going to be a next book even though there is going to be more. This story isn't at tje sa,e standards as her previous books and it shows.
I have always enjoyed long books. But not in this case. The book was just too long. I admit that I have forgotten details from the beginning of the book because the chapters were so long.
Many of the references weren't adequately explained. The whole book in my opinion could have been about 2-3 hours shorter. There were no unnecessary details in the book but, it did seem to me that the book dragged on and on.
The sample read that you listen to also isn't until the 10th chapter which is almost near the end of the first part. I didn't like that. Had I known that I wouldn't have bought it. This isn't a book that you can sit down and finish with minimum breaks. It is a tough read.
The characters were.... they just seemed off to me. I can't put my finger on what was wrong with them other then they just didn't seem right. I will say that you should probably read the attached PDF if you want to understand some of the terms. They are pretty synonymous with what you would think they are but for reference it is a good idea.
