Best Kept Secret opens a moment after the end of The Sins of the Father, with the resolution of the trial and the triumphant marriage of Harry Clifton and Elizabeth Barrington, finally uniting their family. Harry, now a best-selling novelist; Emma; their son, Sebastian; and orphaned Jessica make a new life for themselves, but all is not as happy and secure as it could be. Emma's brother, Giles, is engaged to a woman who may be more interested in Barrington's fortune and title than in a long and happy marriage.

What disappointed you about Best Kept Secret?

Like everybody else I felt that the ending was quite a let down. If Mr. Archer were to write a fourth book which would bring everything together I think he could redeem himself. As to the title I'm still trying to figure out what the best kept secret was. Don't think I'll read any other books by Jeffrey Archer - too expensive to trust another let down.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    not sure

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Alex Jennings?

Alex Jennings was good I would not recommend anybody else.

What character would you cut from Best Kept Secret?

None. The characters were good. I liked them all.

    Any additional comments?

Yes, can I have a refund?

Jodi Picoult delivers the riveting tale of one small town's entanglement with high-school violence.

New York Superior Court Judge Alex Cormier is assigned to preside over the case of the alleged Sterling High School shooter. Lawyer Jordan McAffee represents Peter, the boy who, on the day of the shooting, was found in the corner of the gymnasium holding a gun to his head with a shaky hand. Detective Patrick DuCharme has one star witness, but her story keeps changing. And then there's the biggest problem of all: the star witness happens to be Judge Cormier's daughter.

What made the experience of listening to Nineteen Minutes the most enjoyable?

I felt like I was on the journey with Peter & Josie. The author captured the feelings and insight of both the bully and the victim.

What other book might you compare Nineteen Minutes to and why?

I can't think of any other book by comparison but there are lots of real-life newspaper articles as recent as two days ago (Feb 29, 2012) that follow this story line.

What about Carol Monda’s performance did you like?

Yes, I liked her style, her voice her attempt to portray each character. A tough job but well done.

If you could take any character from Nineteen Minutes out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I think I would enjoy talking with Alex to discuss her experience and what she would do differently. I would share my experience with having a special-needs child who was also bullied throughout public and high schools. If teachers and politicians won't get on board there will be more victims.

    Any additional comments?

The story ended much as expected. It will take more then tragedy to stopy the bullying. Question: Where do school-yard bullies go. Answer: To the workplace.

Mother of Pearl is populated by wonderfully rich and original characters. The paths of Even Grade, a black man who grew up an orphan, and Valuable Komer, a white girl who is the daughter of the town whore, cross through Joody Two Sun, a seer, who becomes Even's lover. Both Even and Valuable are seeking the family, love, and commitment they never had, and their search ultimately takes both of them to places they never dreamed they'd go.

I can't believe that I wasted a credit on this audiobook. Too much landscape description; jumps around a lot and I found it hard to follow. The reader doesn't seem to be too interested in telling the story or relaying enthusiasm into the story. The audible is in 2 parts and I can't seem to get past the first 2 hrs without my mind wandering or falling asleep. Sorry! I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.
