"Stephanie Plum rewritten in "Special World""
Perhaps that is just me though. I wouldn't avoid this title or the story it is just that it feels familiar and perhaps too familiar. I found the story interesting but somewhat formulaic in nature, at times it seems as if I am hearing a reformulated version of Stephanie Plum (Diesel and Wolf substituted for Morelli and Ranger). The crazy woman running around torching everything and everyone is good, but if this is what I can expect from the "Wicked Series" it will not be on my buy immediately list for long. Janet needs to add real spice to her writing genres, by introducing real relationships rather than the tired same old same old two guys and which do I choose.
Lorelei King does a good job as narrator as usual, however, I associate her as Stephanie. It is too bad another talented female narrator wasn't chosen to voice these characters. Yes... Yes... I know she voiced Diesel in the other series, but still it just seems to much of the same old renamed.
"A True Gem!"
This is one of the best books I have listened to in years! The performance of Tim Gerard Reynolds is outstanding and the writing of Michael J. Sullivan is superub! What makes this even better is I would not cringe if my teenage son were to pick up this book and start reading it. I suspect that even my wife who is picky about her fantasies would enjoy this one. I just finished this book and have immediately used my credit to get the next volume in the Riyria Revelations series. Royce and Hadrian are two characters who you instantly like but what is even better about them is you grow to like them even more as the tale continues. This is a great book you will not be disappointed in the least. In someways it is almost like two books and you will love them both!
"A Great Story"
Worth the credit and worth buying for my wife to read as an ebook from Amazon! This would make a great movie!
"I NEVER KNEW... I WAS POISONING MYSELF!"
This book has answered so many questions, I never knew I needed to ask about eating healthy. Having just finished Finding Ultra by Rich Roll, I found ths work to be a complementary and insightful boost to the path off the Pre-Diabetis Train I am currently riding and was failing to escape due to the USDA and aided and abedded by the ADA "recommended" "Healthy Whole Grain" insanity!!! UGH! I always knew I didn't trust a bureacrat when it came to my money why should I be surprised to discover my health was never their primary concern either. The ADA should know better. They claim to be seeking the cure and clearly they are not. The ADA has lost a lot of brownie points in my world, they will never see one more penny from my bank account until they change their stance on this death pact they have with the wheat lobby.
I thought I was eating healthy an yet nothing was helping my numbers improve. They have slowly crept upward with each year's blood test. Last year I lost my gal bladder and things improved for a few months and then I recomitted to eating more healthy foods! Yep! I just unwittingly followed the recommended daily's like so many before me. My earlier weight loss began to reverse itself almost immediately.
I have lost a younger cousin to a digestive system cancer that was rare and unexplained. Now I suspect the cause may have been his "healthy diet" he encouraged me to adopt full of healthy whole grains. My mother in law is killing herself on the ADA dietary plan. This is a nightmare that those who should be watching out for the public as a whole have allowed and even profited by inattentive and or borderline criminal negligence.
My wife and I have begun the process of removing ALL WHEAT from our family's diet. It will be interesting to see the effects it has on our two Autism Spectrum boys. I am so very glad I picked up this title. I have purchased the ebook version of it and of the Cookbook too.
"Well Worth Your Time!"
I found this to be one of the most compact reviews of Brian's work over the last 30 years of any of his books. I have used it as a reminder once a week on my commute to help entrench these points. Began less than two months ago to practice the principles in this audio. I have thus far completed three very large tasks on my personal list of projects for the year. This book is gold if you will put in the daily and sometimes hourly effort to reform your personal habits, from procrastinating productivity to producing results one small action at a time.
This book is well worth your time!
"Thank you Spider Robinson!"
If you like Robert A. Heinlein, this work by Spider Robinson will not disappoint you! Thank you Spider Robinson for giving us one last glimpse into the fadied past of a true grand master of SF, Robert A. Heinlein! I love this story for its simplicity and have listened to it twice now. You brought this story to life beautifully! I know Robert would be pleased that you have given us his fans one last gift from him, through you.
This story is fast paced and mostly believeable that an 18 year old boy would respond in these ways to some of these stimuli. Joel is a fine and indearing character. The humor and twists this tale takes was vary enjoyable.
The ending was more abrupt than I would have liked. So I was pleased to read that Spider Robinson will be writing 3 more book in this univers.
Spoiler Alert:
However, at its conclusion I am left thinking now Spider needs to write a couple of companion novels to tell the tale of how humanity deals with the threat from the unknown. I hope that the forth coming novels will show how Joel's life on the road to the stars serves as a guiding star and point of memory for humanity as they learn the ropes of this bold new universe. A man without a true community, beyond his small family and a few others along for the journey, that enables them to discover the threat and help humanity decide how to respond.
"I am Anxiously Awaiting the Next Revivalist Novel!"
I bought this title because the premise sounded interesting and to my mind would hold a few possible twists and turns. I have never consumed any of Rachel Caine's work before so it was a bit of a risk; however, I had the credit and was between series and no real burning titles on my list at that moment, simply bought it. I am glad I did. Being a fan of Zombie books and movies, this was certainly a twist on the concept. The plot moves along nicely and I have recommended to my wife as a good story she might enjoy.
This was my first experience with Julia Whelan and see did spectacularly in my opinion! I didn't struggle with tracking the characters as she voiced them. I will not hesitate to listen to any book when she is narrating.
My only regret is ‘Two Weeks Notice’ isn't due out until August 7th, uggghhhh! I dearly hope that Julia is already recording the audio version of this new tale.
I can only imagine where this next tale will lead Bryn Davis, but there are too many place this story can go just yet; given the challenges of living life as one of the Returne Addicts. Rachel you have pushed us into a whole wide world in this series starter for new genre character, Zombie Heroine, Bryn Davis!
"I am 'Reddy' for more!!!"
I initially thought that I was going to dislike William Dufris' narration, but by the time I was 10 minutes into the tale I was of an entirely different opinion. He did a great job of differentiating the characters. The story is fast paced and full of twist and turns. I loved this first book; and I will be buying this series up just, as fast as, I can afford them, by all means available.
"This was an enjoyable tale and a good narrator..."
I love Heinlein stories and this one was very enjoyable. I also appreciated the quality of the narration by Emily Janice Card.
"Good Next Volume to the Story"
I enjoyed the stories told in this volume. Glad to have a resolution to the Matriarch story arc. Worth listening to even though Peter can be a bit on the dry side. Gabriel does a great job as usual.
"Keep Them Coming!"
I have loved this series all the way through. The addition of new aliens to the mix and the challenge to our prejudices and biases is great. This is an awesome new entry to the series and sets up so much more... I am anxiously awaiting book 3!
