Over the past two decades, Antony Beevor has established himself as one of the world's premier historians of World War II. His multi-award winning books have included Stalingrad and The Fall of Berlin 1945. Now, in his newest and most ambitious book, he turns his focus to one of the bloodiest and most tragic events of the twentieth century, The Second World War. Thrillingly written and brilliantly researched, Beevor's provocative account is destined to become the definitive work on World War II.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

    Yes. Learned a great deal.
Would have preferred more attention to broad issues and concepts and less detailed focus on battles

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Behind the scenes discussion and critique of military leaders
    Minute details of each battle

Which character – as performed by Sean Barrett – was your favorite?

    N/A

Did The Second World War inspire you to do anything?

    Buy maps of the war

    Any additional comments?

Beevor is a military historian. However, not all readers are as fascinated with the detail he goes into. Would have preferred greater focus on political history.

Master of the Senate carries Lyndon Johnson's story through one of its most remarkable periods: his 12 years, from 1949 to 1960, in the United States Senate. Once the most august and revered body in politics, by the time Johnson arrived the Senate had become a parody of itself and an obstacle that for decades had blocked desperately needed liberal legislation. Caro shows how Johnson's brilliance, charm, and ruthlessness enabled him to become the youngest and most powerful Majority Leader in history.
