The best stories pull readers in and keep them turning the pages, eager to discover more—to find the answer to the question: "And then what happened?" The true hallmark of great literature is great imagination, and as Neil Gaiman and Al Sarrantonio prove with this outstanding collection, when it comes to great fiction, all genres are equal.

Indeed a great write. I was not expecting for it to fold the way it did. Is a tear getter, but kept me on the edge of my seat. The narrator did a great job as well, I was glued.

What did you love best about The Servants of Twilight?

It was well written, I enjoyed very much, kept me interested to the end. Narrator was good, did have a little trouble with a few of the voices, but well read. Was not sure about the boy joie, was hoping would be fine in the end. His Mom & the detective were in good form for the story, all charters were. Kept me on the edge wanting more.

Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special 12-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of hyper-devoted fans of The Shining and wildly satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Got 40 hours to kill? You’ll find the time when you start listening to Lee’s take on Follett’s epic – and widely celebrated – novel of 12th-century England. The Pillars of the Earth tells the story of Philip, prior of Kingsbridge, a devout and resourceful monk driven to build the greatest Gothic cathedral the world has known...of Tom, the mason who becomes his architect - a man divided in his soul...and of the beautiful, elusive Lady Aliena, haunted by a secret shame....

It begins with a call one snowy February night. Lying in her bed, young Sylvie Mason overhears her parents on the phone across the hall. This is not the first late-night call they have received, since her mother and father have an uncommon occupation: helping "haunted souls" find peace. And yet something in Sylvie senses that this call is different from the others, especially when they are lured to the old church on the outskirts of town.

Victoria McQueen has an uncanny knack for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. When she rides her bicycle over the rickety old covered bridge in the woods near her house, she always emerges in the places she needs to be. Vic doesn't tell anyone about her unusual ability, because she knows no one will believe her. She has trouble understanding it herself.

What did you love best about NOS4A2?

There was nothing not to like. I enjoyed the story, the narrator. Kate Mulgrew was awesome in the reading of this book. Will be looking for her in other books as well, whether horror or not.

What other book might you compare NOS4A2 to and why?

Well like horror of all kinds. Short stories or a novel. Have listened to others that are not horror. I like Dean Koontz, Steven King, Ann Rice. Thrillers, Drama.

What does Kate Mulgrew bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I like stories read to me, always have. I read & go to sleep. LOL
She brought the story to real life, like as it should be, as if you were there in the story yourself.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Really never seen a book or rather a film go as the book, which is hard to do, get more detail from books; so it would be hard to say.

    Any additional comments?

    Excellent Book, Writer, & Narrator.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The Narrated was not up to par by a long shot. No have never listened to a book with her as one before but did not care for her at all. She to me was not interesting, in making it the book come alive.

What was most disappointing about the authors’s story?

I listened to the first one & part of the second, have read them but the telling was not enjoyable.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Sorry the book did not seem to be as one a woman would have narrated.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Well known of all the stories of the book, so did not get too far into it. I fast forwarded through the first one, was the narrator, mainly.

    Any additional comments?

Just did not like the Narrator was most of it, but was not enjoying it at all.
