Both were excellent. The language is very rich. I enjoyed going back and forth between the two versions.
I loved the way Byatt incorporated her growing up with the myths into the book. This added a whole new dimension that I wasn't expecting.
Walter was a new reader for me. Where has she been hiding? She was great. I just bought her version of Mansfield Park. I wish she had a bigger list of books. I hope to hear much more from her. She added tremendously to this audio.
Very reliable continuation of the series. I love the language and evocation of this period.
Vance is always outstanding, one of the two or three best readers.
Not written it
I liked Jackson's voice
Sadness and disappointment. This book shows what is wrong with our culture.
I couldn't recommend it. For Jackson to say it reminds him of his own life is just sad, sad.
Not for me. Too much detail. The reader was okay, I didn't like the "book."
I had to work a bit to get into this one but I don't know much about Roman history. This was a great intro. Runger did a stand up job, very solid. On to the sequel.
I listen to maybe 20 books per year. This is absolutely outstanding. I immediately went and downloaded Noble House and I intend to work my way through all the Clavell books. Why don't they write books like this anymore?
I recently read Taipan and couldn't wait to get to Noble House. This is an outstanding book. I would recommend it to anyone who likes Clavell, China, Hong Kong, and even business thrillers. The length initially seemed daunting but book flew by with this excellent reading by John Lee. So sad it is over.
