Dr. Emory Charbonneau, a pediatrician and marathon runner, disappears on a mountain road in North Carolina. By the time her husband Jeff, miffed over a recent argument, reports her missing, the trail has grown cold. Literally. Fog and ice encapsulate the mountainous wilderness and paralyze the search for her. While police suspect Jeff of "instant divorce," Emory, suffering from an unexplained head injury, regains consciousness and finds herself the captive of a man whose violent past is so dark that he won't even tell her his name.

Dawson Scott is a well-respected journalist recently returned from Afghanistan. Haunted by everything he experienced, he's privately suffering from battle fatigue which is a threat to every aspect of his life. But then he gets a call from a source within the FBI. A new development has come to light in a story that began 40 years ago. It could be the BIG story of Dawson's career one in which he has a vested interest.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I can't say without giving away a major plot twist

What about Stephen Lang’s performance did you like?

I love the husky, slow tone of his voice, the way the words roll off his tongue, the emphasis he puts on each one.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Being from the Lowcountry of South Carolina, it made me a bit homesick

    Any additional comments?

    as always, a GREAT book

Delta Force—the US Army’s most elite top-secret strike force. They dominate the modern battlefield, but you won’t hear about their heroics on CNN. No headlines can reveal their top-secret missions, and no book has ever taken readers inside—until now. Here, a founding member of Delta Force takes us behind the veil of secrecy and into the action to reveal the never-before-told story of First Special Forces Operational Detachment-D (Delta Force).

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I am intrigued by terrorism and secret Delta Force organizations, This book told just enough to keep you interested and still private enough to not blow any national secrets.

What other book might you compare Inside Delta Force to and why?

I appreciated that even though it is a personal memoir, it wasn't 'me me me', but mostly stores of "my team". This is very much like Airline pilot Captain Sullenberger's book, Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters

    Which scene was your favorite?

As a military veteran myself, having been through boot camp and training camp (although NOTHING like he chronicles, thank goodness), I found the beginning passages about the selection process interesting and something I could (somewhat) identify with.

    Any additional comments?

Any naysayers who think CSM Haney (Retired) is just puffing himself up in this book need to remember this is HIS perspective of HIS experiences. It is really a balanced look back at his time in the Army.

I also think he is SPOT on in his observations in the epilogue about our nation's greatest threats.

Best Kept Secret opens a moment after the end of The Sins of the Father, with the resolution of the trial and the triumphant marriage of Harry Clifton and Elizabeth Barrington, finally uniting their family. Harry, now a best-selling novelist; Emma; their son, Sebastian; and orphaned Jessica make a new life for themselves, but all is not as happy and secure as it could be. Emma's brother, Giles, is engaged to a woman who may be more interested in Barrington's fortune and title than in a long and happy marriage.

What did you love best about Best Kept Secret?

It kept me interested. However, I was disappointed to discover some subplots are recycled from previous works. A little "Kane and Abel", a little "Prisoner of Birth", and one chapter was nearly verbatim from "Sons of Fortune". Can you plagiarize yourself?

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I felt very invested in what happened to everyone in the story, kept me coming back whenever I had a moment to listen
