    Story

Are boys and girls really that different? Twenty years ago, doctors and researchers didn't think so. However, an avalanche of research has shown that sex differences are more significant than anybody guessed. Gender differences are real, biologically programmed, and important to how children are raised, disciplined, and educated.

This book provides the physiological explanation for alot of the stereotypical gender differences. It is interesting for anyone generally, but particularly if you have kids, it helps to put certain behaviors into perspective.

  • Outliers: The Story of Success

In this stunning new book, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers"--the best and the brightest, the most famous and the most successful. He asks the question: what makes high-achievers different? His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: that is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing.

This book has an interesting premise (that extreme success is not as random as it might first appear), and develops well.

  • The Myth of Multitasking: How 'Doing It All' Gets Nothing Done

    Story

In a compelling business fable, The Myth of Multitasking confronts a popular idea that has come to define our hectic, work-a-day world. This simple yet powerful book shows clearly why multitasking is, in fact, a lie that wastes time and costs money. Far from being efficient, multitasking actually damages productivity and relationships at work and at home.

The conclusions of the book are totally expected, but unlike similar books/topics, the author provides concrete suggestions and perspective.

This was a good listen. Not based on myers briggs or your typical introvert/extrovert, it evaluates personality types and typical pairings and why they work and don't. It recognizes that people will have typically two contributing types, some more dominant than others, but in the end, it provided alot of insight not just for romantic relationships but for sibling relationships (which is really why I tended to buy in more to it, as those are ones I have observed over longer periods). Though the person who did this was more from the perspective of dating, I have to identify personalities and tendencies in all aspects of my life and job and found it useful in other areas.

There's an old saying: if you eat a live frog first thing each morning, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that it's probably the worst thing you'll do all day. Using "eat that frog" as a metaphor for tackling the most challenging task of your day, the one you are most likely to procrastinate on, but also the one that might have the greatest positive impact on your life, Eat That Frog! shows you how to zero in on these critical tasks and organize your day.

Very good. Keeps one's interest. Pulls information from other sources, but does a good job for the most part of identifying what is realistic. Generally pretty motivating.

Not too heavy or terse, but full of well researched and developed information...just fascinating. A great listen for just about anyone; though a couple of topics can be touchy, the authors are careful to approach them purely from a scientific economics perspective with no social agenda.

Now, Jeremy is living in the tiny town of Boone Creek, North Carolina, married to Lexie Darnell, the love of his life, and anticipating the birth of their daughter. But just as his life seems to be settling into a blissful pattern, an unsettling and mysterious message re-opens old wounds.
