Where does Flowers in the Attic rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is pretty high! And I've listened to The Help, Twilight Series, Emily Giffin, Sookie series, Shopaholic series, Plum series, and stand alone stories.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I remembered the movie, but was a child when it came out. There were parts not surprising, but I listened for clarification.

What about Alyssa Bresnahan’s performance did you like?

Great narrator. I've listened to other narrations.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I knew enough about the story, but I became a little obsessed with what happens now. So I will be getting the next installment. I also had a better understanding as to why the grandmother was so harsh. I almost felt sympathy for her, almost.

    Any additional comments?

This was a great book. It has become a classic in its own way. And it made me want to watch the movie again.

Would you try another book from Robyn Carr and/or Kate Turnbull?

Maybe. The Narration was good, so I would listen to the narrator again.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The most interesting is Everyone lived happily ever after and the least is everyone lives happily ever after. I kept thinking to myself- Men aren't really like this! This is a FICTIONAL story. So- if you want to escape into a fantasy land- this is a great story. It just so happens when I was listening to this book that's what I wanted... Now that I'm reviewing it- it's not were I am mentally.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

    Yes. The narrator did fine.

Do you think Summer in Sonoma needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No. I can surmise how everything ends by how the story ended.

    Any additional comments?

I've listened to numerous chick-lit. This is a chick- fantasy. Please know I enjoyed this enough to listen later, but its like a rich chocolatey cake with double chocolate frosting topped with whip cream- its good, but too much is just sickening.

Would you try another book from MaryJanice Davidson and/or Nancy Wu?

More than likely no for both author and narrator. I'm not sure if the narration was off because the writing wasn't good. I've listened to numerous audiobooks, and keep a look out for a new series. This is not one I will continue.

What could MaryJanice Davidson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Write better. I first started listening to the Twilight books, and was won over by audiobooks.Since then I've listened to Charliane Harris' Sookie and Harper Connelly series. I am currently listening to Janet Evanovich's Plum series, and I've just finished the Hunger Games books. I've also listened to the Shopaholic stories, and many other authors.

Perhaps I'm comparing this book to great authors. However,This story was lacking in EVERYTHING- good writing, a good plot, a good story line, and a strong central character.

What didn’t you like about Nancy Wu’s performance?

She sounded as if she were trying too hard to be a rich valley girl living in New York?

What character would you cut from Undead and Unwed?

The main character. She was not written well. She ended up sounding air headed and whiney, while being surrounded by idiots of all kinds.

    Any additional comments?

If you didn't like the stories I mentioned above ( Sookie series, Twilight, Stephanie Plum series, or Hunger Games) then you might like this book or series. I only finished it because I kept hoping it would get better. This book just was not for me. It was too simple and plan while trying very hard to be funny.Save the credit for something better.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! This book was Great. Kept me wanting more. I loved the author's writing style. Uses just the right description, without having to ramble with lots of words.

What did you like best about this story?

Hilarious. Someone's down on their luck, and you don't know it becuase of all the lucky breaks. The story had such a perfect timing as far as humor goes.

Which character – as performed by C. J. Critt – was your favorite?

The grandmother. CJ Critt, has an older sound to her voice so the most convincing is the older character. I kinda expected Stephanie to sound younger- that's why to four stars.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES! I tried, but started during a commute, and wished my drive was longer.

    Any additional comments?

I've listened to Sookie series, Twilight series, Harper Connelly series, and have been looking for something else. I have even listend to the Help and other books- looking for another great book or series. This is a great choice. I liked the author's since of humor, writing style. I am hooked, and have even decided to buy the next book since I'm out of credits. I know it will be worth both money and credits.
