Yes. Marsters is a fantastic narrator. The story had so many subtleties and intricacies that I don't remember them all and could still enjoy it again.
Any previous Dresden Files book. To a lesser degree, the Iron Druid Chronicles.
Probably Toot (although they were all very good).
Frustrated I have to wait at least another year for the next book.
Too many expectations
Resolution. All the story lines are tied up. and for the most part, it was very satisfying.
Matt versus Mordeth.
The book was fantastic, but I am not sure it could have ever met my expectations. I have read the series for so long and waited for this conclusion for more than twenty years. Not sure it could have met my expectations, especially since they have said there will be no books after this one.
It was somewhat entertaining but also felt a bit preachy. Additionally, the main protagonist had a few too many easy situations pop up, usually without any buildup to explain how he could have dealt with it so quickly.
About what I expected.
It is set up as a series, but the story was complete on its own.
Didn't read it first, but I love Luke Daniels's narration, so probably. I couldn't imagine Oberon in any voice but his.
Atticus. Perfect blend of pop culture and historical references.
Yes. Hearne's style is very entertaining.
About what I was expecting. The author didn't throw any last second curve to confuse the reader.
Good characterization, especially for the protagonists.
There were times the book plodded along a little bit. I very much liked the two thieves and their growth. I also thoroughly enjoyed the narrator.
Protagonist and narration. There was so much potential with this story, but I simply did not like the main character. Not only did he seem selfish and ignorant, some of his actions did not make sense.
The narrator, especially compared to other Fantasy narrators (James Marsters on the Dresden Files, Roy Dotrice on Song of Ice and Fire) was not good. He could emote, but there was very little distinction between most characters.
No. I give better performances to my kids reading them bedtime stories.
I really wanted to like this story and stuck it out to the end, hoping the resolution would redeem it in some way. But even the conclusion left me wanting.
