Nothing. It is what it is.
I would like to have listened to Inside Coca-Cola, but it is not in audio.
If you like nighmarish, creepy stories like the old Twilight Zones, this is your book. Although I did not like the stories, the narration was well done.
I really enjoyed finding out more about Kissinger, although it seemed like the author found fault with almost everything he did, with much of the criticism from the perspective of a Monday morning quarterback. It definitely could have been shortened. For example, we do not need to know the name of every dinner guest at Kissinger's parties. However, the book did give a good account of our getting out of Vietnam and what it was like working with Nixon. It also presented a moral dilemma for consideration. Is it better to work secretly and get things done like Kissinger and Nixon did, or be open and seek consensus in the democratic way and get little done or what does get done is watered down.
I thought the narrator did a good job. At first I did not like his voice imitations, but they grew on me.
Everyone should read this book so they know what someone is talking about when they say someone is Machiavellian.
This was a fascinating look at Einstein's life and times. Perhaps a bit technical when it came to describing his theories, but overall well worth reading.
No one can explore a topic with verve and enthusiasm quite like Michael Lewis. Here was a problem no one knew existed but is very ominous. I hope Mr. Lewis expose results in corrective measures. He tells the story well, bringing to life mundane topics with great visualizations. Dylan Baker does another great job of narrating.
The book was well narrated. The story behind Fox new and Roger Ailes was interesting. However, the book seemed overly negative regarding Mr. Ailes and the picture it painted of him, to the point where I wondered if the author had an agenda.
What a remarkable story. This ranks right up there with Unbroken. Everyone should read this book to fully appreciate the sacrifices and hard work our Navy Seals are doing. There is some patriotic ranting that you will have to put up with, buy it doesn't diminish the overall story.
I had the pleasure of listening to this book on a long car ride with my 15 year old granddaughter. After arriving at our destination, I then read Divergent. We finished Insurgent on the ride home and are now listening to Allegiant. What a wonderful experience this has been. I can't wait for the movie!
I really enjoyed this book. The story held me through the full 800 pages and the character development for the most part was very good. That is especially true of the main characters, Theo, Boris, Mrs. Barber, Theo's mother and father, Sandra and Hobbie. I want to be like Hobbie. What a saintly, rich person. The development of Kitsy and Pippa was not as strong.
The writing has been compared to that of Dickens, and I would have to say it falls short of that. Dickens was able to get into the sordid side of life with humor and without making the reader feel oppressed by it. The humor is definitely missing in this book, but it did manage to avoid the oppressive part by painting Theo as an innocent, naïve victim of his circumstances.
The portrayal of Theo as having little control over his fate and casting him in a somewhat fatalistic light, both for his life and for life in general. is something I cannot accept, so this put me somewhat at odds with the author. There was also a little too much drug use for my taste.
The reading by David Pittu is superb. He brought the book to life with his inflections and voices.
Overall, I would recommend this book, but do not see it being a classic.
No. I am more interested in the person than all the technical background on products and design. It was big on technical and short on depth re Jony Ive as a person.
This was a spellbinding story about a company affecting our daily lives. I did not understand Twitter or its history before reading this book.
Would like to have seen more info on what Jack Dorsey was doing with Square. Not integral to the book, but would have provided background on one of books key characters.
