Not since the publication of his own beloved classic Lonesome Dove has there been a novel like this one, another big, brilliant, unputdownable saga of the West from Larry McMurtry. Telegraph Days is at once a major work of literature and a completely absorbing read, not just great fiction, but fiction on a great scale.

Ron says: "Good McMurtry, not great"
    "loved it"
    Overall

I have read most of his books and I really love them all. This one is no exception! I highly recommend this book for it's entertainment value as well as it's nostalgia...you feel like you are Nell's best friend. Excellent narrator.

Adelia is back in action! Ariana Franklin combines the best of modern forensic thrillers with the detail and drama of medieval fiction in this enthralling historical novel, the second in the Mistress of the Art of Death series.

    Lakisha says: "mediocre following"
    "somewhat disappointed"
    Overall

the story itself is just okay...some parts of it were not believable, but the biggest downer for me was that Kate Reading as the narrator made me think that Kay Scarpetta was reading to me. If you have listened to Patricia Cornwell's books that star Kay Scarpetta then this will be odd for you to listen to. The voices of the male characters sound much like the mail characters in the Cornwell books and the voices of Ulf and Mansur sound like mice. sad. I really loved the first book in the series and will listen to the third one but I'm not impressed with the narration.

Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned to deliver an evening lecture in the U.S. Capitol. Within minutes of his arrival, the night takes a bizarre turn. A disturbing object is discovered in the Capitol Building. The object is an ancient invitation, meant to usher its recipient into a long-lost world of hidden esoteric wisdom. And when Langdon's mentor is kidnapped, Langdon's only hope of saving him is to accept this invitation and follow wherever it leads him.

    F. Hayek says: "Do yourself a favoe, pick up a good book"
"if you like outlandish soap operas..."
    Overall

I could not even finish listening...it got to the point where it was an insult to my intelligence. If you like soap operas, you may like this book. You want to like it but the story is so NOT believable that you can't. Characters become unauthentic and you feel like you are watching a soap opera...which I can't stand.

I really liked his first novel and I liked the second one until the ending (which got a little unbelievable)...but this book is not a good one.

Perry's IQ is only 76, but he's not stupid. His grandmother taught him everything he needs to know to survive: she taught him to write things down so he won't forget them. She taught him to play the lottery every week. And, most important, she taught him whom to trust. When Gram dies, Perry is left orphaned and bereft at the age of 31. Then his weekly Washington State Lottery ticket wins him 12 million dollars, and he finds he has more family than he knows what to do with.

    Lyman says: "lottery"
    "excellent book"

starts out a little slow but very much worth the wait! highly recommend to all audiences.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

    Kindle Customer says: "Great Narration!!"
    "A++++++++++"

loved every minute....highly recommend!! The narrators were excellent and the story is not to be missed.
