During the long, cold winter of 1692, seven young ladies from Salem, Massachusetts, begin to display disturbing symptoms. They’re convulsing, contorting, cowering, and croaking strange sounds. Finding no help from medical books, the village doctor declares them bewitched. Having already triggered more than 60,000 executions in Europe, the fear of witchcraft begins its work - even among sensible, down-to-earth New Englanders. And before it’s all over, 141 people are arrested - 19 women are hanged, one man is crushed to death, and four others die in jail.

Would you try another book from Jane Yolen and Heidi Elisabet Yolan Stemple and/or Jessica Almasy?

No but only because I'm not an adolescent girl. This would be find for a young girl, I think that is who the book was aimed at. Guess I didn't read the description thoroughly enough.

Has The Salem Witch Trials turned you off from other books in this genre?

This genre seems to be aimed at young girls or young children who want to learn about history. If I had a child in middle school I would most definitely have them listen to this book.

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told....

"Laughed outloud in the car. Love Tina Fey!"
    Overall

If you are a fan of SNL or 30 Rock you will LOVE this book! Its witty and quick. I enjoyed knowing a bit about Tina Fey's background and hearing her thoughts on life, politics, the realites of modern motherhood and the joys of a photo shoot. I appreciate Tina Fey's version of feminism, its practical not preachy. Tina, please write more books!

Chaz Perrone might be the only marine scientist in the world who doesn't know which way the Gulf Stream runs. He might also be the only one who went into biology just to make a killing, and now he's found a way, doctoring water samples so that a ruthless agribusiness tycoon can continue illegally dumping fertilizer into the endangered Everglades. When Chaz suspects that his wife, Joey, has figured out his scam, he pushes her overboard from a cruise liner into the night-dark Atlantic.

It took me a bit to get the dry humor of this book, after that I couldn't turn it off! After it was over I immediately looked for more titles by the author.

Twelve-year-old Artemis Fowl is a millionaire, a genuis, and, above all, a criminal mastermind. But even Artemis doesn't know what he's taken on when he kidnaps a fairy, Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon Unit. These aren't the fairies of bedtime stories, they're dangerous! Full of unexpected twists and turns, Artemis Fowl is a riveting, magical adventure.

JHawk 77 says: "Artemis Fowl (unabridged)"

Artemis Fowl lived up to all my expectations of a book in this genre. Fun and easy listening. Sometimes I didn't want to turn the car off because I couldn't wait to find out what happened next!
