Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.

Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle - and people in general - has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands.

Would you consider the audio edition of Where'd You Go, Bernadette to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the print version. The performance was well done, so I tend to prefer a good audio performance in general to the voice in my head while reading. Plus, I won't crash my car when enjoying the book.

What did you like best about this story?

I enjoyed the complex, yet believable characters in this book. The situations were a little out there but many of the real-life facts help to keep the story grounded.

Have you listened to any of Kathleen Wilhoite’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to any other Kathleen Wilhoite performances to know how this one compares.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely. I had trouble hitting the pause button once I started listening.

    Any additional comments?

I would like to hear more from this author. This book was very entertaining and well worth anyone's time to listen. I used this book as a breather from my usual long historical novels. Thanks for the oasis, Maria Semple!
