When a middle-aged nun recalls the grisly details of an unsolved murder she witnessed as a child, Special Homicide Investigation Team member JP Beaumont is assigned to the case. Beaumont soon discovers that a band of highly placed co-conspirators are willing to go to any lengths to keep their deadly secrets under wraps. Meanwhile, with a custody dispute looming, Beau's former partner, Ron Peters, is the prime suspect when his ex-wife is viciously gunned down outside her low-rent apartment.

What made the experience of listening to A Long Time Gone the most enjoyable?

I loved the pace of the story, there was always a surprise waiting around the next page. Kept me on my toes all the way through

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sister Mary Catherine was a great character, the way she kept going right to the meat of the matter on her own and keeping everyone else on edge. She really added a sparkle to the story.

Have you listened to any of John Chancer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was my first John Chancer performance, but willl definitely be watching for his name in the future books I read.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The habits of this nun will kill you!

    Any additional comments?

I loved the whole thing, the story, the characters, the plot and the performance of the reader. It all came together for a great experience. Hard to put it down!

Jack Ryan, the former president of the United States, is out of office, but not out of the loop about his brainchild, the “Campus” - a highly effective, counter-terrorism organization that operates outside the Washington hierarchy. But what Ryan doesn’t know is that his son, Jack Ryan, Jr., has joined his cousins, Brian and Dominic Caruso, at the shadowy Campus. While a highly effective analyst, young Ryan hungers for the action of a field agent.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Someone who is into scattered information all over the globe and wants to puzzle it back together.

What was most disappointing about Tom Clancy and Grant Blackwood ’s story?

I started the book 3 times, getting to chapters 5 or 6, but still could not get a handle on what on earth the story was even about. It was a bunch of ramblings about subjects presented in English and other languages that just never seemed to connect into a given story. I finally gave up on this book and will not even try to read it again. Waste of a good credit in my opinion.

What didn’t you like about Lou Diamond Phillips’s performance?

Although he has a nice clear voice, the story had no place for him to go in regard to his presentation. He read what was there, but even Lou Diamond Phillips couldn't help this story.

What character would you cut from Dead or Alive?

It wasn't a character issue, it was a lack of story and interest that killed it for me.

    Any additional comments?

Sure would like my credit back to get something I could enjoy!

Our hero is Jack McEvoy, a Rocky Mountain News crime-beat reporter. As the story opens, Jack's twin brother, a Denver homicide detective, has just killed himself. Or so it seems. But when Jack begins to investigate the phenomenon of police suicides, a disturbing pattern emerges, and soon suspects that a serial murderer is at work.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Would not recommend the book because the narrator turned the story into a sleeper. Although Michael Connelly is one of my favorite writers and The POET should be another great read, the nondescript voice and performance of the narrator made it hard to decipher between characters at times. That, in turn, had me repeating parts to see who was speaking or losing track of what was happening. Very monotonous voice which sounded the same in every conversation.

    Any additional comments?

A great story needs to be presented by a great narrator, otherwise I would prefer to read it instead of listening to it so I can apply the personality I imagine the character would have.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a long colorful story that keeps you engaged through 16 hours of listening, without getting bored.

What did you like best about this story?

I especially liked how this girl finally found who she was and was able to single handedly bring down a huge conglomerate of an enemy. She learned how to overcome such a huge fear in her life and how to love.

What about Julia Whelan’s performance did you like?

The reader was excellent; giving each character a reality I could relate to. The main characher was a little wispy at times, but was able to come out with guns blazing when it mattered. I loved Brooks family and how realistic they all were.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I hated to put the book down and carried it all over the house with me as I worked.

    Any additional comments?

This was a most enjoyable book.

Four decades after it first shook the nation, then the world, William Peter Blatty's thrilling masterwork of faith and demonic possession returns in an even more powerful form. Raw and profane, shocking and blood-chilling, it remains a modern parable of good and evil and perhaps the most terrifying novel ever written.

Would you listen to The Exorcist again? Why?

YES, I WOULD LISTEN TO IT AGAIN! You can never pick up on every detail and nuance in this book in one read. There is so much going on, you want to watch for the clues as they unravel. The author and reader are spellbounding.

What did you like best about this story?

The story is presented so well, that you feel as though you are in that bedroom with the girl. You can feel the coldness and almost smell the atmosphere because it is so well written and read.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Too many great scenes to pick just one favorite.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

A lot of moments moved me, but I keep remembering the mother in the park, and the desperation in her voice as she is begs the priest to help her daughter. I could feel the torment and frustration she was feeling, while watching her beloved daughter suffering so much.

    Any additional comments?

Saw this movie when it came out years ago with Linda Blair playing Reagan. This book did not lose one ounce of the feeling that came with the movie. If anything, having the writer read it the way he intended for it to sound to us was a welcome addition. He reads it with such exuberance, one can't help but feel every hill and valley right along with him. This was and still is, one of the best books ever written in this genre. Absolutely loved it and cannot wait to read it again!

Absolutely loved this book. It was exciting, kept you guessing and on the edge of your seat. As Always with Dick Hill, it was easy to determine each character. He always adds so much to any book he reads, by giving each character a very distinct personality through his reading. Excellent read.

What did you love best about The Concrete Blonde: Harry Bosch Series, Book 3?

The combination of the engrossing story and the performance of the Reader was nothing short of brilliant! I found it more entertaining than watching a movie. The reader gave every character their own distinct, believable voice...without ever using the same one twice!

What did you like best about this story?

Harry Bosch. In this book, we get to learn a little more about Harry, his background, his vulnerabilities, his love life, while still admiring him for the tough, fair, suave guy we have come to know...and love.

    Which scene was your favorite?

ALL OF THEM! Loved the thundering voice of the judge, the persistance of Sylvia, the snivelling Edgar when caught and the fairness in which Harry doled out justice

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Move over Bond...Bosch is here!

    Any additional comments?

If you like mysteries, you will NOT want to miss this story....loved it!

Something terrible has happened in the snowbound village of Kingdom Come, Wyoming, where 12 eerily identical houses stand dark and abandoned. Meals remain untouched on dining room tables, cars are still in garages, and the town's residents have vanished into thin air. This is the disturbing setting where vacationing medical examiner Maura Isles and her traveling companions find themselves trapped during a ferocious snowstorm.

Would you consider the audio edition of Ice Cold to be better than the print version?

Not applicable as I did not read the print version. However, this is the type of story that lends itself better to audible due to the excitement involved.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked how believable the story was. I like stories that relate to current issues hitting the headlines on a constant basis. It was a race to the finish, wondering if help would arrive in time to save all my favorite characters. Kept me on the edge of my seat with lots of twists and turns which really pulls you into the story. A great read.

What three words best describe Tanya Eby’s performance?

Monotone, clear and precise. Would have liked to hear a little more definition between each character.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Although I wanted to keep listening until the book was finished...unfortunately life interferes!

    Any additional comments?

    A great read!
