A well writen, and excellently narrated historical book! One of the best I have read and a good example of how we never learn from or change the patterns and powers of politicians or the press.
This was one of the best historical books I have read! Great history with a terrific story
Roy Datrice does an amazing job of a long series filled with too many characters, predictable plots and soap opera style endings.
This long series is filled with too many names, too many endless plots and a disappointing ending to hour and hours of listening. Roy Datrice does an amazing job.
Overpriced, limited content. Much better material is available nowadays both online and in audible book form.
Long story. One thing it points out is the lack of accountability of leadership in times of war.
Incredible reflections on the ability of humans to survive and overcome. Makes one think about the futility of wars.
I love Bryce Courtenay books and shall miss him! However, this was not my favourite book. A bit repetitive material from his other books.
Sad reflection on the human's inability to stop wars and the book demonstrates how close to the "brink" a civilized society can be.
Good listen with interesting info on Australia and WW2. Humphrey Bower's is a great narrator
