Robert Baer was known inside the CIA as perhaps the best operative working the Middle East. Dana was originally tasked for Agency background checks, but always wanted more. When Bob and Dayna met on a mission in Sarajevo, it wasn’t love at first sight. But there was something there, a spark. And as the danger escalated and their affection for each other grew, they realized it was time to leave “the Company,” to somehow rediscover the people they’d once been. As worldly as they both were, the couple didn’t realize at first that turning in their Agency ID cards would not be enough to put their covert past behind.

    Story

After hundreds of fictional movies of spies and their lives, their real story is not what you'd expect. But now I can watch movies and know what is real practice and what is not in the spy world. My only criticism of the audio book is the voice of Dayna Baer--it so annoyingly monotone.
She might not be that way in real life, but their manager should have considered an actress to read her part because emotions sell. Regardless, I will buy another book written by Robert Baer...eventually.

People starting out in business tend to seek step-by-step formulas or rules, but in reality there are no magic bullets. Rather, says veteran company-builder Norm Brodsky, there's a mentality that helps street- smart entrepreneurs solve problems and pursue opportunities as they arise. Brodsky shares his hard-earned wisdom every month in Inc. magazine, in the hugely popular "Street Smarts" column he cowrites with Bo Burlingham. Now they've adapted their best advice into a comprehensive guide for anyone running a small business.

Definitely a must read for entrepreneurs! I buy books on business constantly; this is different from the others because it's not your Mickey Mouse Fairy Tale story as if everything happens in a perfect world. This book gave real stories with solid advice for the real world in which business is conducted. The fear, the questions, the doubt, and the decisions we all face as business owners are addressed with practical advice, such as looking at your business from the right perspective. My business is a service, and I still gleaned a lot of information and ideas from the examples of his stories. I think the best one, which I wish I would have learned long ago, was not to take business advice from your tax consultant, lol!

Eddie Chapman was a charming criminal, a con man, and a philanderer. He was also one of the most remarkable double agents Britain has ever produced. Inside the traitor was a man of loyalty; inside the villain was a hero. The problem for Chapman, his spymasters, and his lovers was to know where one persona ended and the other began.

As plans got under way for the Allied invasion of Sicily in June 1943, British counter-intelligence agent Ewen Montagu masterminded a scheme to mislead the Germans into thinking the next landing would occur in Greece. This extraordinary operation called for a dead body, dressed as a Royal Marine officer and carrying false information about a pending Allied invasion of Greece, to wash up on a Spanish shore near the town of a known Nazi agent.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have already given the hard copy of this book to people as as gift.

What did you like best about this story?

It gives you real meat--no rambling, just pure applications to grow one's willpower.

Have you listened to any of Walter Dixon’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    don't think so

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

it would be a documentary, but "willpower", "will not power"--you put in text everything you want people to remember. (I'm in marketing)

Meet Emily and Paul: The parents of two young children, Emily is the newly promoted VP of marketing at a large corporation while Paul works from home or from clients' offices as an independent IT consultant. Their lives, like all of ours, are filled with a bewildering blizzard of emails, phone calls, yet more emails, meetings, projects, proposals, and plans. The guru to the gurus at last shares his knowledge with the rest of us. Nobel laureate Daniel Kahneman's seminal studies in behavioral psychology, behavioral economics, and happiness studies have influenced numerous other authors, including Steven Pinker and Malcolm Gladwell. In Thinking, Fast and Slow, Kahneman at last offers his own, first book for the general public. It is a lucid and enlightening summary of his life's work. It will change the way you think about thinking. Two systems drive the way we think and make choices, Kahneman explains....
