All ready have. In fact listened to all three again. Enjoyed as much, if not more than first time.
Hard to compare since have not read a book like it. American history mixed with alternative universe.
If had to pick, Theft of swords by Michael Sullivan. Believable characters, humor and interesting story line.
Faye in dead city
"It!s just like history class.... With one VERY important difference."
Well worth your audible credits. I like to get a "best bang for the buck" as we'll as good story. Being around 16 hours long, this has both.
Did not read
Game of thrones, less complicated but good story none the less.
George is my favorite, rarely find fault with his work, did well on this as expected
None set apart from others
A slow start, took me a while to sort out and place all characters. Liked enough to get 2nd book and just finishing 3rd. I like to listen to multi books in a series and I'm always pleased when after the first I look forward to the next ones.
Spend a lot of time in the car so 20+ hours gave me value for my credit as well.
Would be difficult to judge since I use audiobooks only
The pace and detail of the story was excellent
All the characters were very believable. While he is an extremely good actor in his own right is narration skills are exceptional as well
This is kind of a moot point since it is a film and one of the best of it's kind
Even though I have seen the movie a few times I still found the book to be very entertaining. I purchased as a daily deal and I think audible is doing a good service by marketing in such a way. Wouldn't normally have purchased this title but I am glad I did now. Especially books that are one of several in a series.
Yes if they've read one or more of the previous series as a standalone by itself it would not make sense
It was partially predictable but I did enjoy the interchange with the main characters
Does a good job with different voices available, painting a more vivid picture in your mind of what they would look like.
Yes but to explain would be a spoiler.Towards the very end when things didn't look so good
I have listen to every book in the series and find them entertaining some more so than others the only part that bothers me is the occasional insertion of a political viewpoint. There is a portion in this book where a survivalist type person was being spoken to and of course he was portrayed as an over the top gun nut and a racist. There was a comment about how every gun within viewing distance had been converted to fully automatic and anyone who knows guns realizes this is an impossibility. You cannot tell for sure unless you inspect it. it was merely put into the story to reinforce the view that he was unstable.Parts of the story that had wine or food described I'm assuming were accurate but as far as guns and other mechanical devices, not so muchIf the writers choose to insert their opinions they have every right to do so but at least get some facts correct.
Have to separate into categories . Out of the 90 I have 1/3 are like this of them in the top 20%
Monster hunter by Larry Corriea, Current world with a hidden agenda.
The pace and clarity
When they discover something new. Just the kid in me that likes the discovery of hidden things.
I thought it was a very creative story line. I can see another in the story line as there are many directions you could take. Lots of Interesting people living in that building.
Yes, because of this book I went back and listened to 1st 3 starting with theft of swords and will probably come back to this one. Because of this book it made the others even more enjoyable the 2nd time due to background knowledge.
Royce or Hadrian are hard to seperate or choose just one. I guess Hadrian due to his outgoing / happy personality even though he is a skilled killer.Every time I hear conversation between them reminds me of a couple main actors from the lord of the rings movies. If they ever make a film of this, they would be great.
Very good seperation of voices, can tell the difference easily. Can do aristocracy and peasant both as well as foreign voices with full believability.
Laugh more than anything else, especially when one annoys the other.
When is the next one, well.................we're waiting!
Seemed odd to write the 1st book after the 6th, ( took a while to figure that out, kinda like star wars movies) worked much better than I thought.
This book had a personal effect on me like no other. There were so many things in this book I have experienced, it was overwhelming.Porsche race cars as owner and driver, description of what it feels like at speed, description of tracks I have been to as well ect.But the most compelling was the dog. Do not want to be a spoiler but I had same thing happened to me 20 years ago.Let me just say, as middle aged Midwestern Lutheran male we are not known for our emotional displays but there were a couple times I simply had to stop as it was just too much, even now, this is hard to write down.Keep in mind there were some VERY funny parts as well.Perhaps because there was so much I could directly relate to but this was one of the best books I have ever listened to.
The dog, as you could see the world through his eyes.
The story seemed to flow so well, you could believe Enzo was telling the story.
Yes. Both laugh and cry, can read my initial comment for details.
Don't pass this one up.
Top 10 % of the approx 150 I have listened too.
Harry potter (read them all), but with better "coming of age" feeling. Perhaps due to my age, (read Potter books to my kids/both adult now).It is pure fantasy but has enough of the everyday human experiences people can relate too.Game of Thrones, (listened to all, so far) and is easier as not so complex trying to follow all the different people/plots. Not as violent or with as much sex, not that there is anythingwrong with that. I would say if you liked either, you will like this, fits in between the two quite well.
Kvothe. Because of his natural voice to me fit with age. What I would expect a 15 to 18 year old would sound like but seemed Ok for older version as well.
When Kvothe was looked down on because of where/who he came from even though he was the overall better person.
A very good listen. Good fantasy story without being too far out there.
While not the best Clancy ever, (tough act to follow),is a good overall continuation of story line.
The Vince Flynn/Mitch Rapp books, they are less background detailed but overall more exciting
He is getting better with every title he reads, as a professional should.
Easier to tell characters apart.
4 hrs is usual limit.
