"Me Get It"
A dry sense of humor is required to really enjoy David Sedaris' self-deprecating stories. The sections of tape he recorded in front of a crowd were probably some of my favorites. I'll definately listen to it again to catch what i may have missed. And I'll recommend it to others.
"I couldn't stop listening"
Usually I listen to audiobooks when I'm on the bus, doing chores, or something else that doesn't take my undivided attention. Then I'll listen to music when I need to concentrate on work that uses a bit more brain power. However, with this audiobook, I've had one bud in my ear for days. I can't stop listening. It's truthful, raw, personal, inspiring, disturbing, and entertaining. In 2009, we forget sometimes that only 1 generation ago this type of racism and complete lack of civil rights existed and flourished. And we forget how much courage it took just to break through the smallest barriers. The characters are well rounded and the narrators do a wonderful job.
"my family now seems normal"
I truly enjoyed this audiobook, although it may be a little far fetched. Normally the author reading their own work makes me cringe, but Myla reads it perfectly. The story flows and is very well written. Download this one.
"Download this book!"
You can't help but be touched by Lance's story. It's is full of truth, hope, pain and glory. I was pleasantly surprised by it's candor. It's hard to be so truthful about something that is so painful, but this book does it beautifully. I savored every minute and will listen to it again and again. You MUST download this book.
