Another great production by Bryce. I guess this was the first, but it was not the first I read. The author really brings together a great historical sequence of life and the trials and tribulations of the main character, PK. Interesting ending, very different than I was expecting, but I'll say no more on that so as not to spoil it for others.
This is a great read especially if you like other Bryce Courtenay books and if you ike a great life drama, with a little humor sprinkled in this is a book for you.
Ken Follet has become one of my favorite authors from his early books to this trilogy that will keep you interested from first words until the last epilogue. Each book can stand alone, but makes you want more and follow the whole life of the family.
Next book in the trilogy is great too.
The realism of the history.
Another good piece of writing by the author and this narrator is addicting.
The twists and turns.
Stories too short to effect a real orgasm!! Not what I expected, Ok stories, but at best only OK below average by my opinion. Much better stories in other full books.
hard to tell
Can't say enough about the way Follet makes world war ii come alive through the eyes of people of all the main countries. While battling their own personal challenges they battle each other from other countries. Puts a very personalized view on the events of the war and the actions that made some people despicable, some countries terrible and yet humanized others to show their compassion.
Well done, performed well, another story with plenty of plot adjustments, twists to who dunnit and well you'll have to read the book to know how that ends.
creativity in how it mirors some of what is going on today
he always makes you believe that it really is reacher speaking
cringed a couple times on the reality of the slaughters that were described
This was a wonderful and very enjoyable book. Listened to Demillees LIons game a couple years ago, took a flyer on this one because I liked that one. This was even better, didn't realize that the Generals Daughter introduces one of the main characters, but didn't need to read it ot enjoy this one. Going back the Generals Daughter now to see how it flows if it is half as good as this one it will be well worth the purcahse.
This book is well written. It was a very enjoyable listen. After reading about this event in history we bought the book and listed on our way to Bedford VA for the DDay memorial.
Just be sure you understand the order, I read or at least started Drums of Autumn not realizing it was after Voyager, it reads OK, but so much it described I couldn't remember happening, that was because it had occurred in the previous book of the series. I love the series and plan to go through waitng for the unabridged versions of the 5th, 6th and 7th ones.
First book read by this author, turns out it was from the area where I grew up so I can attest to the truth of some of the stories. Even had relatives named in it though the actual names were not used. The corner in the second chapter is where my aunt lived. Great humor interjected into a serious story, well done although some might not get the humor in the reality of the story
Enjoyed the book very much. Well done and intrigueing, sets the characters very well and builds a great story. Will certainly buy more by same author.
