Would you listen to Red Dragon again? Why?

oh yes, i have read the book and seen the movie (manhunter). i love the audiobook the best. because i don't see well and anyway, i enjoy someone reading to me. that way i don't miss a thing. i find my eyes tire too quickly and i end up skipping half the book.

it is a good story. i will listen to again and again.

What other book might you compare Red Dragon to and why?

silence of the lambs by the same author. maybe because the y were written by the same author.

What does Alan Sklar bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

a clear crisp voice. easy on the ears.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

when reba was with frances and he was watching those movies of his next victim. i remember that when i read the book and saw the movie. again that moment struck me as very very scary.

A 39-year-old with Asperger’s syndrome and obsessive-compulsive disorder, Edward Stanton lives alone on a rigid schedule in the Montana town where he grew up. His carefully constructed routine includes tracking his most common waking time (7:38 a.m.), refusing to start his therapy sessions even a minute before the appointed hour (10:00 a.m.), and watching one episode of the 1960s cop show Dragnet each night (10:00 p.m.). But when a single mother and her nine-year-old son move in across the street, Edward’s timetable comes undone....

New York Times best-selling author Carl Weber and award-winning novelist Eric Pete team up to deliver the first in a much-anticipated new trilogy. The Family Business features two times the heat, two times the fun, and two times the drama as the members of an unforgettable family (not to mention their lovers and hangers-on) find their way in and out of trouble. As their many fans will attest, Weber and Pete share a talent for penning juicy fiction that their audience can’t get enough of.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

    MAYBE SOMEONE YOUNGER.

What was most disappointing about Carl Weber and Eric Pete ’s story?

THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AND THE STORY DEVELOPMENT. I LIKE WHEN A STORY UNFOLDS, THIS STORY JUST HAPPENED. AND IT WAS VERY THIN.

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

THEY WERE GOOD. NO, THEY WERE GREAT.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

THE NARRATORS WERE GOOD. IT COULD HAVE BEEN A GOOD STORY IF THEY JUST DEVELOPED IT BETTER. I LIKE TO KNOW ALL THE MAIN CHARACTERS. I FELT LIKE I ONLY KNEW ANY OF THEM THRU THE CONVERSATIONS THEY HAD WITH EACH OTHER.

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

OH YES! IT WAS A GREAT LISTEN. IT WAS A DIFFERENT KIND OF BOOK. THERE WERE LOTS OF SURPRISES IN IT.

What did you like best about this story?

THE LITTLE "SURPRISES" THAT HAPPENED DURING THE BOOK. I WAS NOT EXPECTING SOME OF THESE THINGS TO HAPPEN.

    Which scene was your favorite?

THERE WERE SO MANY SCENES I LIKED IT IS TOO HARD TO PICK ONE OF THEM.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I WOULD BE A SPOILER IF I SAY.

    Any additional comments?

THE BOOK WAS QUITE UNIQUE. IT WAS A GREAT READ YET, I DON'T THINK IT WOUDL MAKE A GOOD MOVIE....IT WOULD SEEM TO MELODRAMATIC. THE BOOK WAS ONE A MOST ENJOYABLE READ. I WANT TO READ MORE BY THIS AUTHOR.

Harry and Madeleine Winslow have been blessed with talent, money, and charm. Harry is a National Book Award-winning author on the cusp of greatness. Madeleine is a woman of sublime beauty and grace whose elemental goodness and serenity belie a privileged upbringing. Bonded by deep devotion, they share a love that is both envied and admired. The Winslows play host to a coterie of close friends and acolytes eager to bask in their golden radiance, whether they are in their bucolic East Hampton cottage, abroad in Rome thanks to Harry's writing grant, or in their comfortable Manhattan brownstone.

What did you like best about Indiscretion? What did you like least?

I LIKED MOST OF THE BOOK. BUT I FELT THE BOOK WENT ON TOO FAR. IT SHOULD HAVE ENDED EARLIER. I COULD FEEL DISAPPOINTMENT CREEPING IN ON ME IN THE LAST HOUR OR SO OF THE BOOK.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I DID NOT LIKE IT. THAT'S ALL I WILL SAY.

What about Robert Petkoff’s performance did you like?

THE READER WAS FINE AS MOST OF THE READERS ARE. AND READING AN ENTIRE BOOK CAN'T BE EASY!

Did Indiscretion inspire you to do anything?

    NOPE.

    Any additional comments?

THE BOOK WAS ENTERTAINING, AND I AM NOT SORRY I BOUGHT IT, BUT IT REALLY WAS NOT A GREAT BOOK.

So begins this extraordinary first novel about one wild year in the life of 14-year-old Charlotte Flax, when she and her sister Kate move with Mrs. Flax into a sleepy 1960's Massachusetts town. Mrs. Flax is a woman who wears polka-dot dresses and serves hors d'oeuvres for dinner every night, and Kate is a child who basically wants to be a fish. And then there's Charlotte, who in Patty Dann's hands, is transformed into a young woman of infinite whim and variety.

What made the experience of listening to Mermaids the most enjoyable?

I LIKED THE FUNNY IDEAS THAT CHARLOTTE HAD ABOUT SEX AND LOVE. SHE WAS AN ADOLESSENT GIRL WHO WAS KINDA QUIRKY.

I LIKED THE STORY VERY MUCH.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Mermaids?

WHEN CHARLOTTE WAS TALKING TO SISTER SUPERIOR AT THE CONVENT. ALSO SOME OF THE THINGS CHARLOTTE WAS THINKING MADE ME SMILE. KIDS ARE FUNNY AND THIS BOOK DID A GREAT JOB IN JUST TELLING A FUN STORY.

What does Elizabeth Evans bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

IT IS ALWAYS NICE TO HAVE SOME ONE READ TO YOU. SHE HAD A GOOD VOICE FOR THIS JOB!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES I DID. IT WAS A SHORT BOOK AND I READ IT ALL THIS EVENING.

YES. IT WAS ENTERTAINING. THE STORY HAD DEPTH. I READ THE BOOK WITHIN TWO DAYS.

What did you like best about this story?

IT WAS BELIEVABLE. WELL THOUGHT OUT. NO FANCY TWISTS OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. IT WAS JUST A GOOD STORY.

Which character – as performed by Susan Lyons – was your favorite?

IT IS HARD TO SAY WHICH WAS MY FAVE. AND THERE WAS MORE THAN ONE READER SO I DON'T KNOW WHO READ WHAT CHARACTER. I WILL JUST SAY THAT WILL WAS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER.

If you could take any character from Me Before You out to dinner, who would it be and why?

MOST OF THE TIME WHEN I ANSWER THIS QUESTION I CHOOSE SOMEONE WHOM I HAVE A QUESTION FOR. IN THIS CASE I THINK I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE OUT WILL, LOUISA AND NATHAN. I THINK ALL THREE OF THEM DESERVE A NICE DINNER.

    Any additional comments?

THIS BOOK WAS MORE FOR WOMEN (IMHO) BUT I DO THINK MEN MITE LIKE IT TOO. THE STORY IS VERY SATISFYING.

A TEENAGER. THE IMAURITY OF HOW THAD LOOKED AT RELATIONSHIPS WAS WAY TOO YOUNG FOR ME.

What was most disappointing about Ben Mezrich’s story?

THAT HE DID NOT GO IN DEPTH ON HIS RELATIONSHIPS WITH PEOPLE IN HIS LIFE. HE SEEMED VERY SUPERFICIAL. RESEARCH ON NASA WAS GOOD THO.

Would you be willing to try another one of Casey Affleck’s performances?

NOT REALLY. HE WAS CLEAR BUT HIS VOICE IS NOT ONE FOR READING A BOOK.
