I set more bookmarks in this book than I have ever set before! There were so many golden nuggets and so many useful links, that I was more than satisfied within the first few chapters. I plan on listening to it again and again.

Gavin Guile is the Prism, the most powerful man in the world. He is high priest and emperor, a man whose power, wit, and charm are all that preserves a tenuous peace. But Prisms never last, and Guile knows exactly how long he has left to live: Five years to achieve five impossible goals. But when Guile discovers he has a son, born in a far kingdom after the war that put him in power, he must decide how much he's willing to pay to protect a secret that could tear his world apart.

When I first started reading the Black Prism, I thought it was going to be interesting based on the reviews, but I didn't expect to get much farther than book one. I thought the magic system was a little hokey at first but the way it was used as a way to develop the characters certainly grabbed my interest.
I bought the next two books and I'm ready to go!
The only downside for me was the vocal performance. It was very professional and well read but I've never been a big fan of American accents in fantasy and Gavin started to sound more like a surfer dude than a fantasy hero and it kind of threw me...

I have read (and listened to) several books on content and online marketing. Most of them have several good points and one or two great points. Epic Content Marketing is the book that I wish I had started with! I thought that the listening experience would be filled with a lot of "yeah, I've heard this already" moments but it has been exactly the opposite - I have set an endless stream of bookmarks and I plan to go back and listen to the whole thing again later, in addition to studying the bookmark moments. Lots of gold here!

The Last Battle has started. The seals on the Dark One’s prison are crumbling. The Pattern itself is unraveling, and the armies of the Shadow have begun to boil out of the Blight. The sun has begun to set upon the Third Age. Perrin Aybara is now hunted by specters from his past: Whitecloaks, a slayer of wolves, and the responsibilities of leadership. All the while, an unseen foe is slowly pulling a noose tight around his neck....

    Overall

I have been reading the Wheel of Time series since the beginning and have loved it, but in all honesty, I can't say that I have loved it all equally. The series started off strong and held the pace for the first few books, then started to fall into a predictable formula. The last few books by Robert Jordan I actually found to be quite dull and they almost lost me as a reader. That all changed when Brandon Sanderson took over. It still feels like Robert Jordan's writing but the pace is right back where it should be and the endless tugging of braids, smoothing of skirts and planting of fists on hips has thankfully subsided. The Towers of Midnight is my favourite book in the series so far and I have high hopes for the final volume!

I have been listening to Brandon Sanderson's podcast, "Writing Excuses" since it began but this is the first time I have sampled his writing firsthand. It's time to read all the rest of his books now! Bravo and keep up the excellent work!
