"A brilliant new story"
Sanderson needs to finish the Wheel of Time and focus on his own superior work the Stormlight Archive, this first book is incredible and so different than standard fantasy. All the characters are interesting and well written, the whole world has huge potential to fill volumes. The only problem with new work like this is waiting years between novels.
"A slow and frustrating start"
I loved these books when I read them 10 years ago. It seems a lot slower and the characters more frustrating. I couldn't deal with Wintro's character, he always pissed me off for some reason. Over all I do like the book but this first book is tedious.
"One of the best ever"
What a great series and narrator, I can't wait for the next book!
"Great series"
I'm just finishing the first book, and it's great. It has the same narrator as Brent Weeks Night Angel Trilogy, who does an amazing job. I became a huge fan of Robin Hobb years ago with the Farseer trilogy and now it's an audio book, awesome!
"Good series"
I enjoyed both books, however the author could have explored the world far more. The final book was short; it would have been nice to hear more about certain conclusions, but it worked for the story format he was conveying.
"Glad I picked it up"
I hesitated at first with some of the reviews, but I found the story creative, unique and easy to follow. I enjoyed the world, characters, and story telling format, which fits perfectly.
"Good Book"
I have always enjoyed Robin Hobbs' books, definitely one of my favorite fantasy authors. The Farseer triology, liveship traders, and Tawny man are awesome, which they need to get read, and by a great narrator like this book. Nevare Burville, the soldiers son enters a world of dreams and subtle magic with interesting characters. The first book of the Soldier Son is by no means the fastest paced record setter, it gets a little slow, but I still liked it a lot. She builds and introduces characters really well, gives them some of the frustrating qualities all people possess which builds frustration in a good way. The narrator did an amazing job, I hope he continues the series, and reads more books in general.
"Truly a great book"
What an awesome book, it gets you hooked right away with creativity and details. The story builds character development really well and moves along at a good pace not tedious or too fast with a very unique cool magic. Michael Kramer does an amazing job as always, I thinks he's definitely one of the best readers.
