Where does My Mother Was Nuts rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

After listening to motivational and business books, I needed something light. Unfortunately, I found myself driving around a lot more just so I could listen to this book...instead of working! It was just fun to hear from Penny after all these years. A fun listen because it was her telling us about her life. It sound just like Penny, but older. Some may say it was a book about all the names she dropped...well...that was her life and it was fun to hear!

What did you like best about this story?

I liked how she came from meager roots, didn't have much direction really, and just fell into her life. She never seemed to go after anything, it just came to her. If it worked, great. If not, well...on to the next. Kind of like me...no idea what I want to be when I grow up, I just move from one day to the next and take care of whatever comes along.

What about Penny Marshall’s performance did you like?

I loved that she still sounds just like Laverne. Which she said she played just like herself.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, there are moments when you cry and moments when you laugh. Plenty of moments I didn't even know happened (why would I??). It was fun to have an insider view of Hollywood.

    Any additional comments?

If you love New Yorkers, loved Laverne, like hearing backstage Hollywood stuff that is not on a tabloid, want to be entertained, laugh some, cry some, buy the book. You will enjoy.

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten. Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars is award-winning-author John Green’s most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

Thanks to its treasure trove of proprietary data and army of statisticians and data scientists, led by chief economist Stan Humphries, Zillow has been able to spot the trends and truths of today's housing market while acknowledging that a home is more than an economic asset. In Zillow Talk, Humphries and CEO Spencer Rascoff explain the science behind where and how we live now and reveal practical, data-driven insights about buying, selling, renting, and financing real estate.

Being a realtor, I have a love/hate relationship with Zillow. Mostly hate. But most of my clients come to me with info they found on Zillow, so I thought I would read this and see what I think. I think the book is a great commercial for Zillow...the know all, tell all, real estate website that everyone should go to for their information. Unfortunately, as powerful as it may be, it still can't tell you everything because it just knows what data is sent to it. Sometimes that data is not correct because someone skewed the numbers. Many times something happened in data transfer and what Zillow shows as "for sale" has been sold for years and is not really for sale. I found myself wanting to sit down with the creators of Zillow to have a conversation with them going over point by point everything in this book, because I feel like even in this book they did not tell you everything. They told you what they wanted you to know...just like what they show on their website.

New York Times best selling author John C. Maxwell has the answer: The difference between average people and achieving people is their perception of and response to failure.

This was just as fabulous as the rest of his works. Just do it! Stop procrastinating and waiting for everything to be done and perfect, JUST DO IT! Then fix what didn't work...fail forward. Makes sense. Now I only have to JUST DO IT! LOL

He has taken on giants like British Airways and won, and monsters like Coca-Cola and lost. Now Branson gives an inside look at his strikingly different swashbuckling style of leadership.

Loved the narrator, I know some didn't. I enjoyed learning about Sir Richard Branson. He sounds like someone I would like to meet some day and I put him on my list of people I most admire. Many of the ideas I have heard before, but it never hurts to hear them again from someone else in a different context. I still picked up new tidbits here and there. Mostly I get that I have to have more fun in business. I do take things way too seriously! Smile, laugh and enjoy the process!

From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan ("the devil") and placed a bounty on his head.

Narration was as horrible as everyone said. The fake Texas accent...really? Either get a real Texan to read the book or talk right.

I expected some good war stories. Deep insight into the feelings of a warrior. You get none of that. You do get lots of acronyms & what they mean. You get an entire chapter of the various weapons used and how they feel. Guess some would find that interesting. I kept listening...hoping to get to a good part. It never came for me.

I doubt I will see the movie...well, maybe when it gets to Netflix for free. I certainly won't be jumping to get the rest of his books. While Chris Kyle may have been a badass Navy SEAL sniper, he is not a badass writer.

The system was simple. Everyone understood it. Books were for burning, along with the houses in which they were hidden. Guy Montag was a fireman whose job it was to start fires. And he enjoyed his job. He had been a fireman for ten years, and he had never questioned the pleasure of the midnight runs or the joy of watching pages consumed by flames, never questioned anything until he met a seventeen-year-old girl who told him of a past when people were not afraid.

I love Ray Bradbury, but I had never read this book. So I thought I would go for a classic. It has been awhile since I read Bradbury...maybe I forgot...or maybe this was the first book he ever wrote...but it was tough! There was so much overuse of adjectives! It was incredible. I know you need them to draw a mental picture, but this was painful! The story is lost in all those adjectives! But, I listened to the end. The plot was good, but it could have been a short story. :)
