This little romp in the Vorkosigan universe is just plain fun. It might not be the place to start if you are unfamiliar, but it I really enjoyed getting the perspective of some normally "supporting cast" characters.

Was a good listen/read. The story is very interesting, but occasionally goes so far sideways as to be difficult to follow.

How will artificial intelligence affect crime, war, justice, jobs, society, and our very sense of being human? The rise of AI has the potential to transform our future more than any other technology - and there's nobody better qualified or situated to explore that future than Max Tegmark, an MIT professor who's helped mainstream research on how to keep AI beneficial.

There are no insights and damn few intelligent or original observations. I have read Tegmark works that were far better. Outdated, underwhelming. This is a soft soap warning of things that are impossible, unlikely or inevitable but essentially pointless.

The fictional lead in was the best part of the book... because it was fiction.

Nobody knew where it came from. Nobody knew why it came. When an eight-foot-tall man made of stone appears in the middle of a busy city center one July afternoon, two-bit (and antisocial) reporter Andy Pointer assumes it's just a publicity stunt. Indeed, so does everyone else...until the Stone Man begins to walk, heading silently through the wall of the nearest building, flattening it, and killing several people inside as a result.

But as he investigates, the evidence points to conspiracies far stranger and more deadly than anything he could have imagined. Borl must travel from the decaying Beszel to the only metropolis on Earth as strange as his own.

What does John Lee bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

John Lee is an AMAZING narrator. He could read the phone book and I would listen.

    Any additional comments?

The story is fascinating. Not least because at no time throughout the story do you ever REALLY know whether the situation of the City and the City is somehow supernatural or merely an extreme example of how crazy human society and politics can be.

Therein lie the few faults unfortunately. Towards the end there are a few inconsistencies and the writing seems a little rushed. It's still one of the more interesting stories I've read lately, both the plot itself and the metaphysical exploration.

And you don't want slow in erotic fiction. At least I don't. The story-line is fun, even believable up until near the end. Jessica Chisolm's almost drawling voice is just right.

Setting down his thoughts on swordplay, on winning, and on spirituality, legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi intended this modest work as a guide for his immediate disciples and future generations of samurai. He had little idea he was penning a masterpiece that would be eagerly devoured by people in all walks of life centuries after his death.

But after just a few days on the job, Clay begins to realize that this store is even more curious than the name suggests. There are only a few customers, but they come in repeatedly and never seem to actually buy anything....

The good news is that you have just awakened into Eternal Life. You are going to live forever. Immortality is a reality. A medical miracle? Not exactly. The bad news is that you are a scrap of electronic code. The world you see around you, the you that is seeing it, has been digitized, scanned, and downloaded into a virtual reality program. You are a Copy that knows it is a copy. The good news is that there is a way out.
