And you don't want slow in erotic fiction. At least I don't. The story-line is fun, even believable up until near the end. Jessica Chisolm's almost drawling voice is just right.
Scott Brick has a pleasant voice, but the extensive commentary at the beginning is draggy. I'd probably have liked it better in text format, i.e. for study.
Oh yeah, and the story was good too. Seriously, this is one of Hamilton's best stories. Exploring several possible outcomes of emergent technologies, and keeping my interest level consistently high. Very good stuff.
George Guidall is an excellent narrator. Borges is a great writer. But something in these stories just wasn't quite clicking for me.
... I got this one, and was not disappointed. Great fun. Good characters. Narration was pleasant and believable.
This was the most painful narration I've had to listen to. Usually I can get used to a voice but this was... just not workign for me at all. Sorry, dude, but your voice was like nails on a blackboard. I'm sure you're a nice person though.
I was surprised by how much I got into this book. It was a tad slow to start, not unusual for NS, but I was drawn in by the second or third chapter. Halfway through I found myself having a hard time tearing away. I liked.
Not as good as some, but what it lacks in depth it makes up for in breadth. Ronson's usual wry humor is as good as ever.
Much more enjoyable than the Ender series, despite the fact that I'd give Ender's Game 5 stars. Ender was best as a standalone. This one.. well, I dont know yet. But the handling of time effects and so on, while not particularly scientific, are very interesting to read. And the characters are interesting, slowly gaining depth throughout.
Except the sister. She just appears mid-book and dives right in... I felt that she was not given enough time and attention as a main character.
This little romp in the Vorkosigan universe is just plain fun. It might not be the place to start if you are unfamiliar, but it I really enjoyed getting the perspective of some normally "supporting cast" characters.
