Pity men of France. The principal manly art, warfare, has mocked them since Napoleon's apogee. since then, the English, Germans (3x), Vietnamese and Algerians have kicked french butt, er, derrière.
But ah, the manly arts of love, where "French" is a verb, noun and modifier. Along comes M. Yalom, "How the French Invented Love…." She applies the scaly hands of a feminist to the history of French love and romance. There is a heavy emphasis on cuckolds and adulterous moms. Yikes. Over nine centuries then, we have no exchange of fluids, and only one dirty word. After reading this book, I have discovered why French men are arrogant little frogs.
