If you love the Sookie Stackhouse series, this one certainly delivers. There someone shooting weres. If that's not bad enough, attempts are made on Sookies life. New supernatural characters are introduced, but we still hear much from our favorite vampires Eric, Bill, and Pam. Lots of suspense in this installment. Vampire and Were politics are explored and the facinating topic of the "blood tie" is further explored.

Definetly a book that should be read from the start of the series. It's a great series and Johanna Parker does an outstanding job telling this story.

What a fun start to this vampire series. While there is a bit of drama in this one, it's really more of a comedy and a light read. It's fun and entertaining chick lit.

Betsy is certainly not your typical vampire and she wants to live her death the same way she lived her life. She finds this hard to do since has "special" qualities that set her apart from all the other vampires. This gets her noticed fast and is the basis for the series. Her sarcasim and humor make this a hillarious read.

Her living friends Jessica and Mark are a great addition and kind balance Betsy out...and Eric Sinclair, her vapiric interest is quite intriging. Sinclair is a bit sarcastic as well and the banter between he and Betsy adds to the fun.

Nancy Wu does a great job as narrator, particularly with giving Betsy a voice. I will definetly pick up the next installment in this series.

Finally, audible has this one. It's the best in the series. Johanna Parker does an amazing job reading this series. More supernatural creatures are introduced in this installment. Jason turns up missing. Eric is somewhat cursed and we see quite a different side of him. While this is book 4 of soon to be 9, I think this is a pivotable book in the series and the events carry well into future books in the series. This installment is absolutely fabulous and I was thrilled to get the audio version.
