Eva never really wanted to be a mother - and certainly not the mother of a boy who ends up murdering seven of his fellow high school students, a cafeteria worker, and a much-adored teacher who tried to befriend him, all two days before his 16th birthday. Now, two years later, it is time for her to come to terms with marriage, career, family, parenthood, and Kevin’s horrific rampage, in a series of startlingly direct correspondences with her estranged husband, Franklin.

I downloaded this book because it was on sale and I wanted something to listen to. I wasn't prepared for how sad the narrative actually was. In a society where we are quick to blame the parents for the unwarranted violence of teenagers and young adults, this book did an excellent job of giving insight into the fallout a mother faces after her troubled son commits a terrible tragedy. Overall, the book was a bit hard to get into but once I started to understand the characters, I found this to be a very satisfying selection.

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

When I downloaded this audio book, I didn't realize that a lot of my friends were reading it and that it was on the Best Seller list. GREAT story and wonderful narration. I really liked that there was a female and male narrator. As this story is full of twists and turns, the different perspectives really come to life. I listened to this story during a 10 hour drive to Atlanta and I actually sat in my car and finished the chapter before I got out. It was that interesting.

The incomparable master of the legal thriller takes us deeper into the labyrinth that is the American justice system, always drawing us in with an irresistible hook, pulling the thread of tension tighter and tighter, and then knocking us out with a conclusion that's never "by the book". Maybe that's why, after more than 20 years of consecutive number-one New York Times best sellers, a new novel by America's favorite storyteller is still a major publishing event.

Where does The Litigators rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I thought this was a solid audiobook and enjoyed it. The performance was great and often made me laugh.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Typical Grisham book but still worth listening too. This book was a bit more humorous than others which was a definite plus.

Have you listened to any of Dennis Boutsikaris’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No but I would certainly listen to him again.
