The year is 1771. Claire Randall is still an outlander, out of place and out of time. But now she is linked by love to her only anchor: Jamie Fraser. They have crossed oceans and centuries to build a life together in North Carolina. But tensions, both ancient and recent, threaten members of their clan. Knowing that his wife has the gift of prophecy, James must believe Claire, though he would prefer not to. Claire has shared a dreadful truth: there will, without a doubt, be a war.

The historic hotel in Boonsboro has endured war and peace, the changing of hands, and even rumored hauntings. Now it’s getting a major face-lift from the Montgomery brothers and their eccentric mother. As the architect in the family, Beckett’s social life consists mostly of talking shop over pizza and beer. But there’s another project he’s got his eye on: the girl he’s been waiting to kiss since he was sixteen.

Where does The Next Always rank among all the audiobooks you???ve listened to so far?

I love Nora Roberts love stories. I do not like the murder and violence that she writes under her other name and that was beginning to be in her love stories. This book brings back the enjoyment of small town life, interesting women and men, and of course a good love story.

What did you like best about this story?

A man who would babysit three young boys for a woman has to be a real man!

What does MacLeod Andrews bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

He is GREAT. He gives a wonderful performance and his manner of speaking is special. I particularly enjoyed his speaking in the passionate part of the story. His little laugh was just right in the moment. I would love to hear more from him.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and over and over again.

    Any additional comments?

Great story, wonderful story teller, can't wait for the third installment and hope their can be more to these stories than just the three brothers.

Dave Robicheaux returns in another Bayou adventure, this one more gruesome and gut-wrenching than any that have come before. Hurricane Katrina has ravaged New Orleans, leaving the streets and buildings flooded and the city awash with opportunists, looters, and vicious criminals. There is no order, no law. Police are shooting randomly at innocent people, prison guards have abandoned their posts, and bodies float through the streets and hang from trees.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Tin Roof Blowdown to be better than the print version?

I have only heard the audio version so cannot make a judgement.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Tin Roof Blowdown?

The book told the story of how we saw the hurricanes and the flood affect the people of New Orleans in an intimate way that made it seem more real than just seeing it on television. Plus it has its own inner story.

Have you listened to any of Will Patton???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Will Patton's voice is my very favorite. I will sometimes buy a book just because he is the narrator. I love his southern accent and would listen to him read anything.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

It was so terrible what happened to all those poor people that lived through the hurricane and the flood. A disaster can happen to any part of the country and we get a taste of how people can act during a stressful and chaotic time. I was moved by the moving boat seeing people and dogs floating by. I hope I never see anything like that in my lifetime.

    Any additional comments?

First you have to remember that all of James Lee Burke's books include violence and takes us back to rememberences of the Vietnam war. He tells it like it was.

Lunacy was Nate Burke's last chance. As a Baltimore cop, he'd watched his partner die on the street - and the guilt still haunts him. With nowhere else to go, he accepts the job as chief of police in this tiny, remote Alaskan town. Aside from sorting out a run-in between a couple of motor vehicles and a moose, he finds his first few weeks on the job are relatively quiet. But that's about to change.

If you could sum up Northern Lights in three words, what would they be?

    spectacular, amazing, unforgettable

Who was your favorite character and why?

The Baltemore Cop that could not get over his partners death

What about Gary Littman???s performance did you like?

Love his voice, listen to him all night long

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Always, and many more times than I can count.

    Any additional comments?

One of my very favorites of her novels. It seems to be so different from all the other stories. I love the fact that it is in Alaska, even though the sun shines all winter. I have most of all of her books and this is my favorite of them all.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A better story all around. The ending was as predictable as the rest of the book.

What was most disappointing about E L James???s story?

By reading the reviews by other people, I thought it would be an entertaining book. I certainly would never have given it such high reviews.

What three words best describe Becca Battoe???s performance?

I thought she was good playing the voice of a young innocent girl.

What character would you cut from Fifty Shades of Grey?

The main character then it might have been a better book about the girl.
